We parked at the office in St Davids and chatted to Sue then were driven down to St Justinians by a very nice man whose name I can't remember. We had Mark (skipper) and Eirlys (Snowdrop) in a 280 horsepower rib. Our trip left and returned on time. We had booked the entire boat privately because, having stayed in St Brides bay for over 20 yrs, we wanted to see things from the sea (and no one else wanted to book this trip I guess). Mark was a great skipper and very knowledgeable about the coats having been here since a boy. Eirlys was very knowledgeable about the history of the area, having been recently involved in an archaeological dig nearby; also really nice to chat with. Mark timed it all very well; we managed about half of the bay in 2 hours then blasted back across the flat-calm bay at high speed. A really lovely informative and exciting trip. We might do the other half of the bay next year.
Note: the rib is black rubber which can leave marks on light-coloured trousers when climbing in and out.

We managed to get a trip without prior booking ( probably not recommended if you want a specific day or time)
Friendly company and we could leave our car in free car park and taken by mini bus to the boat.
You sit astride on the seats and the boat goes fast!!
We went round Ramsey Island £ 28 per adult and it was great to go around this island and go into caves, see the nesting birds and seals. Obviously there’s no guarantee you will see anything!
The water was beautifully clear and so also saw some jellyfish!
It was a fun quick hour - enough for me as I’m not great on long boat trips!!

We went on an hour long trip around Ramsey Island yesterday, 4 adults, a 15 year old, two 13 year olds and a 12 year old. It was the highlight of our holiday! We hired a private boat, highly recommend if there is a large group of you. Saw seals and dolphins. Lots of great info from the guide who is a Marine Biology graduate. Mini bus and free car parking were great. All the people so very friendly and helpful. The children loved the speed! Beautiful scenery. Would highly recommend!

When we booked with this company, we were reassured that social distancing would be encouraged, there would be smaller numbers of customers on the boat and that all customers and staff would wear face masks for the entirety of the excursion. This is NOT the case. The boat was FULL, with half an arms length between each customer. There were 4 separate households on the boat. NO-ONE (apart from us) wore face masks. At no point were customers reminded to wear face masks (despite the company policy clearly stating this). The skipper had a token gesture of an old and very battered builders mask dangling from under his chin. By the time we were on the boat (first to board), we were unable to get off despite our obvious discomfort.

As a family, we have used other companies for the around Ramsey Island trip many times. Unfortunately we were unable to book with these. By comparison, we observed that these other companies had strict hygiene and strict distancing in place, with limited numbers of passengers on each trip. The guides are more knowledgeable and engaged with telling customers about this wonderful island.

This company clearly needs to ensure that the COVID-19 policies stated on its website are enacted. I can appreciate that these are difficult times, but Aquaphobia is clearly placing money over customer safety.

There are several boat trips around Ramsey Island but we’d recommend this one. All seem similar. High speed ridge boat, you straddle a narrow padded bench two to a seat so you can hug your wife or children as the boat crashes down off a wave. It’s great fun, very safe but with the edge of being on a speed boat at sea. Crew very friendly, take you all round the island, pointing out interesting parts, driving into bays to see seals and their pups. There was a couple with very young children/toddlers but personally I would not take a child under 5/6 especially in rough seas as you do need to hold on. Great fun though.

So hands up, not the first time I have reviewed Aquaphobia - but I'm a long term fan! Having had my kids grow up from toddlers to twenties on family trips (with dog), this time I was with my 83 year old Dad. The Ramsay trip was as fun and informative as ever and the whole experience felt Covid secure with the boat cleaned between trips and everyone temperature checked and using face coverings. The addition of the car park and shuttle facility from St David's (and Mark's unique commentary) put these guys ahead of the other local operators.

We booked our trip at the kiosk in St David's for the following day. I said I would really love to see the puffins but lovely lady in the office said unfortunately they have now left the island, they disappear around mid July, but we were told there will be seals and hopefully porpoises so we signed up for the following day. They asked if we would mind sharing the boat with another family and we will all need to wear a mask due to covid, which obviously was not a problem. What a fantastic trip!! Considering the skipper (Mark) does this trip day in and day out he was absolutely amazing and really keeps the trip fresh and alive! Mark was incredibly knowledgeable and fun for children and adults alike. It was a brilliant, exciting trip - the rib gets up to a really good speed and is great fun crashing through the waves, however, we felt completely safe at all times. The seals and pups were basking on the shore and we saw the porpoises too along with many native birds especially around the caves. Would highly recommend! Mark was definitely 5 star too!

The trip surpassed expectations. This was the last operator we tried as we had spotted it on the left on the way in, but went to the other operators in the town first (now really pleased they were full). Free parking at the back and a lift down on the minibus. Tour was really fun, we saw porpoise, seals and seabirds. The skipper was very friendly and knowledgeable. A few steps fo negotiate but managed easily by the youngest (3yo) and oldest (73yo) members of our party. Would highly recommend it. Boat has a decent turn of speed too which was fun, but always felt 100% safe.

Wow. Mark and Dom are simply fantastic! The tour is absolutely brilliant - you see tons of sea life, breath in the fresh sea air, and go inside of the island.
Swing by the Royal George in Solva for a pint afterwards as well! Cheers!

Despite a grey day the trip was amazing, we loved the rib ride and enjoyed the informative information given by our very knowledgable guide. We saw seals and some pups, amazing rock formations, an extinct volcano and some very interesting birds. We also witnessed a rip tide which was a real spectacle.
Well worth the money
One thing to note, the trips were advertised for all ages, getting down to the boat involves lots of steep steps and getting on to the rib requires a good level of mobility. As you are required to site astride the seats you need to be able to get your leg up and over in a fairly small space.
