Fabulous Owl Encounter !
May 2021
We booked the Owl encounter experience as a family of 4 and had a brilliant morning. Seren was a really wonderful guide and managed to answer the hundreds of questions fielded by our 10 year old. We stayed for the morning show and that was brilliant too. Thoroughly recommended.

A fabulous way to spend an afternoon
Sep 2018 • Solo
I was bought the 'walking with hawks' experience as a gift. It was a lovely afternoon spent with Alex and two harris hawks. We started off in a meadow which led to a woodland and ended up in the grounds of the botanical gardens. It was a lovely experience to handle these magnificent birds. Alex was very knowledgeable and answered any questions. I would highly recommend this experience.

Amazing day
Sep 2018 • Couples
I booked a half day experience flying birds of prey, after visiting the centre within the Botanical gardens of Wales. We could choose 3 birds which we wanted to fly, along with the an owl, but that would be the one who wanted to come out on the day!
We started the flying with Vogue, a Steppe eagle, in the meadow. She was quite a character. We went on a walk with Eddie , a Brahminykite, through the Botanical gardens. He showed off his fishing and catching food in midair skills , flying from to and fro. Mally, a Harris hawk, came for a woodland walk with us. The owl, who agreed to come out, was Allan, a Barn owl. An absolute delight.
Alex, the falconer, was a wealth of information and it was obvious that the birds and the centre were his life. His commitment to the birds welfare shone through.
We stayed to watch the 3 public displays held at the centre , they were awe inspiring. The presenting falconers were a mine of information, not only on the birds but on conservation of different species.
You cannot fail to have an amazing day, it really is worth booking yourself a treat. The owl experience at Picton Castle is next on our list.

Wow what a day!!!
Aug 2018 • Couples
This was a birthday gift , and what a gift it was. We had the woodland hawk walk experience where we spent over 90mins in the company of an experienced falconer and on this occasion a Harries Hawk. We were able to fly the hawk after a short period of instruction by Rob and to see the hawk fly and land back again on your hand was an amazing experience. Adding to the day was the information passed on by Rob about falconry and the relationship between him and the hawk was beautiful to see. She obviously trusted him to allow us as complete strangers to handle her when instructed by him to do so..Unforgettable experience...going back soon and whilst there you must visit the British Bird of Prey centre at the National Botanical Gardens.. well worth the entry fee just to see the golden eagle in flight close up...

Up Close and Personal
Feb 2018 • Couples
What a fabulous experience! Three hours of flying in the grounds of the National Botanic Gardens. Never thought I'd get up close with an amazing and intelligent vulture (Gomez), and look a Black Kite in the eye. Highly recommend this experience, great value, fun, informative, and Alex and Emma are a great couple and a pleasure to meet. We've come away with memories that will last a lifetime. We will be booking again.

Owl Encounter: A Fantastic Day Out!
Feb 2018 • Friends
I flew the birds and my parents came as spectators. They were a really welcoming couple. Their passion and enthusiasm is evident in everything that they do. They were happy to talk about what they did and the birds in great detail which I found to be very interesting and informative.

The birds were stunning and it was a great privilege to be able to get up close to them- especially their long-eared owl! They each had a unique and cheeky personality that was adorable to observe. A day out that will never be forgotten. I will definitely be booking again!

Amazing. We loved it!
Jan 2018 • Family
We booked the Woodland Hawk Walk for our family of ten (ages 3 - 66). The experience definitely lived up to our expectations and even surpassed them! We spent a totally enjoyable 90 minutes walking through both woodland and farmland with two amazing hawks and of course two amazing falconers! Alex and Rob were very friendly and informative and nothing was too much trouble for them. Rob also took over 200 photos which were very quickly delivered to me via Dropbox and although between us we had taken loads of our own these were far superior, so thank you so much - they are great reminders of a great day! My granddaughter aged 3 was a little too overwhelmed by the size of the hawks to hold one so Alex and Rob very kindly took us to their aviary after the Hawk Walk was finished and very carefully and patiently helped her to hold a kestrel, which was great. We were quite sad when the experience was finished but we were then taken to the cafe and treated to some lovely hot drinks with cold drinks available for the children. Thanks also to Amy for making all the arrangements for us. You also get free entry to the Botanical Gardens. Will definitely visit Pembrokeshire Falconry if we are in the area again, and would probably book the Owl Encounter next time.

Half Day Birthday Treat
Jan 2018 • Friends
My friend Carol and I celebrated Christmas and Birthday in one go.
We got to see Mally and Zephyr the Harris Hawks. Red Kite (Scarlet) Hinge the long eared owl and Vogue the Steppe Eagle who behaved impeccably. What a joy to see these beautiful birds at close quaters and handled by the guys who obviously love what they do. Plus I saw a nuthatch and tree creeper in the woods=bit of ad hoc twitching too!! The Entrance is located to the rear of the Botanic Gardens-follow corporate experience signs or ask.Thank you very much.

Half day experience - birthday treat
Jan 2018 • Couples
Booked a half day experience as a birthday surprise for my partner. The whole experience from start to finish was amazing. John was able to fly 6 birds, some in the Botanic gardens and the harris hawks in the adjacent meadow. Rob couldn't have been more helpful, as was Emma. Both were extremely knowledgeable and went out of their way to ensure we had a fantastic experience. Even Rob's recommendation for Birthday dinner that night in Tenby was spot on. Overall a thoroughly excellent afternoon, we couldn't recommend this experience high enough. Thanks Rob and Emma.

Full Day Experience - A fantastic day!
Nov 2017 • Couples
My wife and I spent the day with Alex at the National Botanic Garden. Everything about the day was excellent. The programme was very well thought out, with different kinds of birds, techniques and locations arranged in a sequence which kept interest and enjoyment at a high level. We loved being introduced to some real characters among the birds - a particular highlight was walking round the garden with Gomes, the American turkey vulture, who didn't feel like flying! Alex and his colleagues were unfailingly helpful and informative. A great day out - thoroughly recommended.
