Great Castle in a lovely setting.
Sep 2021 • Couples
Kidwelly Castle is a must do attraction, the castle has many rooms and towers to explore.

Up high in the vantage points you get great views and there are a plethora of pictures to take.

There is a well stocked gift shop in the grounds outside, but car parking spaces are a bit limited.

You can spend as little or as much time as you like in the castle.

A lovely Welsh Castle

A lovely castle with nice views.
Plenty of rooms and dungeons to visit, pretty much what one would expect from a castle.
Car parking right outside with clean toilets.
Plenty of bilingual information boards explaining the history

Brilliant visit to a nice castle

A really good castle to visit, a lot more intact than many and with good exhibits. Parking is limited, but was fine for us. Really friendly staff and a lovely little gift shop.

Enjoyable castle!
Aug 2021 • Family
First time to Kidwelly castle and pleasantly surprised. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not as big as other castles but still very good. Plenty of space inside the castle and now many areas closed for restrictions which was good! Staff were very enthusiastic about the castle which was lovely to see. The only downside was closing for an hour in between 1-2pm, but castle only takes about an hour to look around so not too bad. Overall good few hours out.

Kid(well)y worth a visit
Aug 2021 • Family
It was very quiet due to Covid restrictions, except for one other family my son and I had the whole castle to ourselves. It's not as large as some of it's close rivals such as Caerphilly, but you'll still need 2 hours to explore properly. And there's a nice picnic space inside the grounds, as well as plenty of benches if you need to rest your legs. The staff I spoke to are righly proud of their castle. There was limited parking next to the castle, but visitor numbers seem relatively small and Kidwelly itself seems compact so I expect finding an alternative would be easy enough. In all this castle is well worth a visit if you find yourself in South Wales.

Great example of a castle
Jul 2021
There is a small car park right next to the entrance to this impressive ruins of a castle. There are a number of turrets and different rooms to walk around including steps up to some nice views.

Well worth a stop.

Was confronted by a rude woman with a clip board I hope she doesn't speak to visitors in the same maner as she spoke to me.

A brusque dismissal.
Jun 2021 • Couples
Having cycled 20 miles to get to Kidwelly we found the castle closing for lunch - really Cadw !!!- and a brusque dismissal. It was a hot day so perhaps grumpiness is forgivable if unprofessional. We hadn’t booked - but even unable to ask if there might have been a spare pm slot to visit. Not impressed. I volunteer for the NT where this sort of welcome would never be tolerated.

Had a visit here
Jun 2021
Was a lovely walk around this castle could be viewed all around the village etc, taking in the history etc, so worth a visit if you have a spare hour or so to kill while in the area.

Loved it

One of the best preserved Castle ruins in South Wales
May 2021 • Friends
One of the better preserved Castles in South Wales hence the cost. Set in the lovely village of Kidwelly parking available within a few hundred metres of the castle. At the moment due to Covid restrictions you have to book but there were plenty of spaces at time of writing this. Probably in the main school holidays if restrictions continue you’ll need to plan your visit. They also shut for lunch at 1pm which means if your booked in for midday you’ll only have an hour to look around, that’s possible but it’s such a great castle you’ll want to spend more time. Staff were lovely & welcoming & explaining current restrictions with social distancing in some of the passages of the castle & there was a one way system in effect. Great castle though.
