Ruthin Gaol is well worth a visit. The ladies on duty when we visited were charming and the information map, boards etc were well done and very informative. I've visited several old gaols over the years and what you get here is pretty much the norm, i.e. detail re individual felons, the crimes they committed, punishment meted out, work conditions,... Absolutely brilliant day out and very good value for money. Very good value and kids loved it. Staff were friendly and the kids trail was good too. Interested displays but could do with a few more interactive displays and gift shop was pretty terrible. But 10/10 for value! Well done County Council!! :) Will be sure to visit again when... More

Visited Ruthin Gaol and was pleasantly surprised as I was only expecting to see a couple of cells and the odd uniform but when you enter the main part of the building you can see all the floors with the cell doors still intact, reminded me of the programme porridge with Ronnie Barker, it gave a good incite on what... This was a very interesting and not expensive trip to see how jails or gaols were at the beginning of last century, very informative in each cell

Visited with my family and found the gaol very good for all ages. Catered for young and old and would visit again.

Enjoyed a good day out finding out life as an criminal behind bars. What they ate and if where they ranked as class. Believe it or not this all effected how they were treated & fed. Not what they did! - bit mad eh! We all had a good time. Time a jumper tho as it's under ground a lot... More

My two children (13 and 8) and I spent a brilliant couple of hours here today. The gaol is restored beautifully and there is the right balance of written information and exhibits. Woman at the ticket office was very helpful and friendly.

We were lucky the day we went it wasnt raining but would be good if it was. Not a lot to do in Ruthin so nice place to visit. The history is great and we really enjoyed it. Good place for children too.
