This community based museum tells the story of crossing the Menai Strait and celebrates the iconic, historic bridges and the famous engineers who built them. You can see artefacts from the original bridges, watch films of their reconstruction, try building a bridge or test your knowledge by doing the quiz, extend your visit with a walk over and under the Suspension Bridge or look for the lions on the Britannia Bridge and find out why the Menai Strait is so important for wildlife.

With a couple of friends I had attended the Centre's excellent series of Spring Lectures where we found out about the guided group walks. We booked a Sunday afternoon and phoned round to recruit people we knew would be interested. Twelve of us turned up and, for a fiver each, we were treated to an introductory talk with tea and... I live on Anglesey and the choir I belong to use the Telford centre as a rehearsal room. The museum is quite small and dedicated to Thomas Telford and his work on the Menai suspension bridge. Some good photographs and lots of information. Mainly written details about the bridge with a few artefacts.

I admit to being biased: Menai Bridge was my home town and the museum is housed in the building that housed my infant school/pre-school in the early 1950s. I was expecting a small display of old photographs and photographs of newspapers of the time of the bridges' construction, but it's far from that. It shows an extremely interesting account of... This wonderful suspension bridge between Bangor and the small town Menat, changed the island Anglesey in a peninsula, after it was constructed in the 19th censury. Before it was only possible to reacht the island by ferry or fishing boat. The design of this bridge is very interesting to study.
