Clean sandy beach. Some shelter from midday sun due to rocks at the back of the beach. Sea is quite shallow and goes out quite a way at low tide. It's quite a walk if you want water deep enough to swim - beware of jellyfish in the summer months.
Easy access from road, including step free access. Dogs allowed in some areas of beach - check local signage.
Public toilets in Lower Wendon car park opposite beach. Free parking on road for one hour, if you can get a space. I used the Upper Wendon car park - £6 for 4 hours or £10 for 8 hours which actually gave us parking until 8am the following morning.

A small bay but a lovely beach. A steep drive down to the beach but there is plenty of parking. If you are only stopping a short while then parking on the road is free. There are public toilets in the pay and display car park. There is a cafe and when we were there a kiosk selling delicious whippy ice cream. Opposite the beach is a grassy area with picnic tables overlooking the bay.

Lovely beach. Easy access from the car park (there is another overflow car park higher up) Nice cafe/ice cream shop right on the front that sells excellent ice cream and donuts!
During the school summer holidays The Beach Team , a Christian voluntary organisation, have games, songs and stories on the beach during the day and evening activities on Tuesday and Thursdays for families which are always well attended and popular.
Public toilets are in the car park and are adequate. We have been over the past 11 years to Benllech most summers and the toilets let the beach down. I was pleased to see that soap and paper towels were provided this year but the smell in the ladies toilet is awful! The toilets also close between 6-7pm which seems early during the summer holidays as the beach is still busy often up until 9.30. This resulted in us seeing families having to use the bushes which is not great!
It's a great beach though and we will retunr again next summer.

Like many people we are in Wales for our late summer holiday. Memories flooding back but we did get one day with the sun out. This beach got the family vote. The beach itself was tremendous. Sandcastles paddling and rounders were the order of the day. So much space and cleanliness was perfect. Sea was clean (and cold 😝). Unfortunately toilets were barely passable we took a picnic so can not comment on food but we needed a towel and got one no problem and about the same price we would pay in Spain. Other point of note is parking. Usual shenanigans trying to find change but you can pay on an app which worked well. I would recommend this beach and will visit again

Really nice beach, plenty of room and really clean. Had 3 good days on the beach. Car park adjacent to beach can get busy but there is an overflow 200 metres away. Myself and the youngster had a long walk from Benllech beach to Red wharf bay. Just make sure to check the tide times if walking between these on the beach.

We were staying at the Strand so this was our local beach. It has everything you could wish for cafes, public toilets and a car park with good access for disabled people.
Certain areas are designated for dog walkers and we found the beach to be clean.
When the tide goes out it’s possible to walk past st David’saround the headland to Redwharfe Bay which is approx one and a half miles. If you are unfortunate to get caught out by the rising tide you can use the costal walk way that takes you through St David’s on the coastal path.

Stayed in this modern, well equipped , perfect location holiday cottage over new year week . A warm and spacious homely cottage perfect for two families, sleeps 8 comfortably.
Just a 5 min drive to Lligwy vast stunning beach or we walked ,just one hour on a beautiful coastal path, for a hot chocolate .
The parking space was a big plus and all amenities you could need are in easy walking distance in this quant small fishing village.Would definitely stay again

Great place to visit in summer with the family. Little mini arcade (little coin machines) and shop right next to the beach. I recommend the doughnuts at the mini shop - they’re unreal! Nice long walks cross the beach to a caravan site with a nice restaurant.

If it is a low tide, car park is full before 9 am. There is another car park but walk from there to here is long, if you have lots to juggle with children. Filth lay everywhere in this beach. No one bothered to pick them up.

Great beach with clean water. Just a shame that a minority of dog owners set up camp on the 'no dogs' area. No point in having so many signs (and flags on the beach) if it cannot be enforced.

Is Benllech hilly? Are the shops cafe's etc near the Beach. We usually stay in Rhosneigr where everything is really close, sea, shops, cafe's Stayed in Beaumaris October and shops cafe,'s are close to Beach too.
If Beach in Benllech is away from shops etc. would there be self catering accommodation in between the sea and shops to stay in, any guidance would be appreciated, I use a stick and can potter about but not great on long walks so situation of self catering is important 😀 Thank You!

Benllech is hilly but there is a gentler way if you follow the road and last time I went, the pavement was very smooth although if I remember rightly, a couple of the kerbs were high - if you go via the cliff coastal pedestrian only path, then it's very hilly and like a walking rollercoaster so best avoided if you struggle as it's very narrow and although there are gates into caravan parks that can get you off the coastal cliff path, those caravan parks are hilly themselves.
There are shops, cafes and toilets very close to the beach and a good ramp down to the beach itself.
I'm not sure if the hotels are still on the front or if there are self-catering units though, although I know that a few years ago, there were some.
Is there a public shower/tap at this beach? Thanks in advance.

Dogs are allowed on a section of the beach but it’s easier to go along the cost a few miles to Red Wharf Bay as we discovered

Hi I am looking to book a camping trip for my family, I have a 6 and 4 year old so ideally want to stay as close to the beach as possible. I'm looking for a campsite with electric hook ups and allows fires in tge evening if you can recommend any? Thanks

I'm afraid I can't help you with a recommendation as I haven't stayed at any of the campsites in the area but maybe the Visit Anglesey website might be of some help to you. They are also on Twitter. Or ask Keith at Anglesey socialmedia, he does a lot to promote Anglesey and he can be found on Twitter and Facebook.
My dog has been sick since going to Benllech beach, has anyone else experienced this?
