Beaumaris Castle was built by Edward the first at the same time as many of the other castles in the area. Its one of the four heritage listed castles in northern Wales and thus is very popular with tourists. It's dates to shortly after Conwy and Caernarfon were built. It was built on flat marshland and becasue of that they... More

I love a castle and Beaumaris didn't disappoint. It's like entering Edward I's tardis when you begin exploring. I loved the large foam blocks which allow you to rebuild a replica of the castle. My kids spent a good half a half an hour constructing their own castle. We did the Stonemason's quest and the kids were duly awarded a... More

Fabulous castle much enjoyed by our children. They loved exploring the walls and ducking in to the hidey holes and staircases. A visit is highly recommended.

This was the first of our two castle visits that day. We'd seen it from the Bangor Pier and as castle lovers we needed a closer look. The ruins are stunning and it's interesting that the castle was never actually completed. Can easily lose an hour here just wandering around and climbing towers.

If in Wales you must visit Beaumaris, a lovely little town, and the castle is way better than a number of castles in the area. In the town along the front it's free parking for 2 hours witch I think is really good

Very well kept ruins of an old castle. Great trip for families and couples. There's a quiz for children that is teaching them history about the place and they have to find clues.

It cost £16.20 for a family ticket (2 adults/2 children) to enter and the children were given a quest sheet to find letters on stones as they investigated. It was great as we all got to look around and the children were happy. The castle was in very good condition and it was very accessible. Highly recommended for families

Nice time with the kids exploring the castle could be a little more interactive to keep them interested but plenty of space for exploring and reasonably priced at £16 for a family ticket.

Situated on the headland at Beaumaris, parking is plenty either before or after the castle. Despite the fact the castle was never completed to it's intended height, it was built to a working standard and easy to visualise what it would have been like with an extra storey all round. Many explanation boards sited around the castle to explain building... More
