Visited in December and virtually had the place to ourselves Spent a good 2 hours exploring the castle and admiring the views. It has many tunnels and rooms to investigate. Stairs and upper level can be a little scary, especially if you have young children or vertigo! Informative video telling the history of the castle. I think it was well... More

Beaumaris castle is impressive insofar as much of it is original. The partial moat adds a new dynamic and most of the ramparts are accessible giving excellent views of the bay.Edward1st began building it in 1295 and work continued until 1330 but it was never completed!

Four of us were visiting Beaumaris and took the opportunity to see the castle. This experience was very interesting, especially as there was a real moat surrounding the castle. The castle was positioned near the front of Beaumaris and will always be a tourist attraction.

Still quite intact and plenty to see for its age, a smallish castle so easy to check out. Plenty of history good for all ages just lovely.

Full of history. A great castle, with superb views despite being unfinished and a great moat. Thoroughly recommended.

Enjoyed our visit. It was a bit muddy/boggy on the grass areas because we had had a lot of rain, so wear boots, but a great castle to explore. Nice, helpful staff and lovely views from the top of the walls. Enjoyed the history.

This castle ruin is one of the many that King Edward of England ordered to be built when he invaded Wales, except that the money ran out before this one was finished. It is an interesting place to explore in the lovely little town of Beaumaris.

Great castle to spend two or so hours in - the only castle I saw on my trip to Wales that still had a moat so that alone was worth going to see! Was never finished but the walls are great to walk along. I recommend a visit with the CADW Explorer Pass. This is one of the UNESCO World... More

Quite a large castle with an interesting history. We bought an extra guide book which gave a lot of information. It had been very wet before we visited so grass was quite muddy. Boots or wellies would be good. Great views across to Snowdonia. Very central at the end of the main street with a car park next door.

This visit wasn't the first or second or even third time I've been to the castle, but still every time I go I seem to find something new to do. In the summer we took a picnic and kicked a ball around the inner ward and had a great hour or so, this time we wandered around trying to complete... More
