A real treat

Stopping in Monmouth for couple hours at the start of a mystery trip we walked to this church which is practically on the bridge. This tiny church is an absolute delight and I am so pleased we were able to go in as so many churches are locked nowadays.

This little church almost on the Old Monnow Bridge is a delight and a must see if visiting Monmouth. Lots of original features. Check out the font in particular.

Fine local church steeped in history.

After crossing the river passing through the Monnow bridge and gate, this petit church is a must visit when in Monmouth.
The original site of the church dates back to between 1170 and 1186.
A Saxon/Medieval featured church, the history can be read in the pamphlet available for a mere 50p.
Beautiful inside and rather homely.

St. Thomas The Martyr Church
Oct 2017 • Family
Just at the end of the High Street near Monnow Gate. Easily missed, but you should not miss it. An unassuming Church and we nearly didn't go in.
But so glad we did. Incredible history from over the last 1,000 years. We were amazed as we spent over an hour there. Time to reflect, contemplate and be thankful for what we have. Love and family is worth more than money.
Time to say thanks for our beautiful daughter, born at 25 weeks so 15 weeks (4 month) early. So blessed that she is now perfect in every way and such a happy child.
This Church makes you realise what is important in life.

Fabulous old church
Oct 2017 • Solo
Nestling in a corner of Monmouth, this little old church could easily be overlooked, but please don't. Getting on for 900 years old now, the outside is nothing special but once inside it contains some beautiful treasures.

Beautiful 12th century church

St. Thomas has a beautiful interior with part of the building dating from around 1180. It has a fine 12th-century Norman chancel arch, and exquisite West door. Well worth a visit

A small but beautiful and charming Church in Monmouth.
Jul 2016 • Couples
Dropped into the charming little St.Thomas's Church (dating from c.1180) whilst exploring the historic town of Monmouth in Wales and was delighted by it's beauty. It really is a very special Church with rich colours and real atmosphere... Well worth a visit. Also do take a look in the trunk of the tree directly across the road from the Church's front entrance as there is a very twee door in a hole in the trunk, (See photo).
