Lovely night out
Jun 2021 • Couples
Lovely venue - yes like most places needs updating in places but I love the old atmosphere of this place.

Lovely staff to show you to your seats - great for a night out whether it’s cinema or live theatre.

Always worth supporting

Superbly old fashioned

This traditional cinema cum theatre right in the middle of Monmouth is like a tardis. From the outside you’d think you were entering a tiny place but inside it’s a full size theatre with a circle, small bar, a proper curtain. Fantastic value at £6 each for a current film. Will definitely be back for live shows too.

Lovely old Theatre
Feb 2020 • Family
As a family of four ranging from 81 to 15 we visited to watch the Jimeoin comedy show. We have previously been here to watch another show and had no issues. However on this occasion our tickets were upstairs and unfortunately the sound volume was rather poor. It was very difficult to hear the act and their was a bright spotlight shinning directly towards us meaning that it was also hard to see the act. The was not the case with our previous visit, when we were sat downstairs, so can only assume that the problem is with being seated upstairs. I did notice that the speakers are downstairs so perhaps some speakers upstairs would resolve the sound issue?

That said a great little venue.

Will go back!
Nov 2019 • Friends
Visited here tonight with my mother and aunt to watch a amateur play performance called The Ghost Train (which we all really enjoyed) and it's the first time any of us had been here and it's a lovely place! It's a little faded in places and could do with a bit of a touch up here and there but it's charming and beautiful. They have recently redone the ladies toilets which were very clean and modern, and they serve drinks and snacks which you can take in with you while you watch. We will definitely come again next time there is something that catches our eye to go and see.

Proper old fashioned theatre
Nov 2019
I have been to the Savoy Theatre many times to see films, pantomimes and people live on stage both amateur and professional. It is a proper atmospheric theatre with friendly staff who i believe are mostly volunteers. There is only a small bar area but it has everything one would want for an evening. Thoroughly recommended.

Love this place!

This is a slice of history. Granted the seats aren't reclining and the screen isn't massive for movies but it is so atmospheric and you can even buy yourself a quick beer or wine to watch the movie.

Old School classic
Aug 2019 • Couples
A lovely old place which doubles as a theatre and also a cinema.
We were there to see “Blinded By The Light “ (my husband is a Springsteen nut) which is a brilliant movie, but more about the venue.
It is an intimate and friendly place which is undergoing some renovation to it’s facilities. There are great ornamental features sadly lost in modern theatres which enhance the timeless atmosphere of the building.
If you are visiting the area it’s well worth checking their schedule and trying the place out.
