This traditional cinema cum theatre right in the middle of Monmouth is like a tardis. From the outside you’d think you were entering a tiny place but inside it’s a full size theatre with a circle, small bar, a proper curtain. Fantastic value at £6 each for a current film. Will definitely be back for live shows too.

Just a charming and delightful place to visit. Lovely old theatre which also serves as the town’s cinema. Comfortable seating with plenty of legroom. Friendly staff and excellent schedule of events.

Lovely venue - yes like most places needs updating in places but I love the old atmosphere of this place.

Lovely staff to show you to your seats - great for a night out whether it’s cinema or live theatre.

Always worth supporting

As a family of four ranging from 81 to 15 we visited to watch the Jimeoin comedy show. We have previously been here to watch another show and had no issues. However on this occasion our tickets were upstairs and unfortunately the sound volume was rather poor. It was very difficult to hear the act and their was a bright spotlight shinning directly towards us meaning that it was also hard to see the act. The was not the case with our previous visit, when we were sat downstairs, so can only assume that the problem is with being seated upstairs. I did notice that the speakers are downstairs so perhaps some speakers upstairs would resolve the sound issue?

That said a great little venue.

I wanted to support local. So went here instead of one of the chain cinemas in nearby cities or even coleford 6 miles away. None of my options would have been difficult for me.
I went shopping before hand . Then took my three grandchildren to pay their entry and see them inside.
Because I had so much shopping my 8year old grandson carried a bag for me. When we arrived to buy tickets, the elder man and a women of elder age asked me what I had in the bag! I said Iv been shopping and was taking to bags with me to the car when the kids were inside ( I had a teenager too )
He said well I can see through your bag! ( no idea why he was looking? ) I was asked to put it behind the counter or inside my other shopping bag! What ever for I have no idea, as they were coming with me. He had no rights. I was not leaving the children with my shopping he just carried it for me. Over all the older looking man was rude and disrespectful. I will not return and support this small business again as I have before. And will not recommend it to others. Such a shame

My husband spent over an hour this morning queuing for tickets the Savoy had claimed to have for sale only to find that they DID NOT and were only offering tickets via the same online service we could have accessed from home. As a result we didn't get tickets we probably would have got had he stayed at home but wasted over an hour. So did approx 200 other people. Absolute dishonesty on the part of the Savoy - you should have been honest about not having tickets to sell.

A lovely venue in the centre of town, friendly, great atmosphere with traditional cinema feeling. Good parking, easy access to restaurants and shops.

The Savoy has a varied programme of both live, cinema and special events such as London shows on film. The theatre is in excellent condition, mainly due to the tireless efforts of the volunteer staff and fundraisers. If you want to see the genuine nature of bygone years it is a superb trip down memory lane for the older generation and an eye opener for the younger ones. Pay a visit while the theatre is still open because it won't always be there. The plus side is that the tickets are half the price and refreshments and confectionery are available.

Great little theatre putting on some excellent events. Spoilt however by the surly behaviour of the staff (Chris), who was downright rude to my family and I last week. I understand that the theatre is run by volunteers but I would still expect to be treated in a civil manner otherwise customers will stop buying tickets. What a shame!
