So looking forward to tasting their 'orange wine' made from the albarino grape. We had their sparkling wine for our daughter's wedding in 2016 and it was beautiful. Firstly, your website says the vineyard is open at the moment - it is closed until March next year so sourcing their products is difficult. Fortunately there is a really helpful outlet in Monmouth [Marches] who managed to procure a couple of bottles of the orange wine for me. Even they said it was difficult to get hold of the owners at this time of year. Husband and myself have just tasted the wine - in our opinion it is truly horrible. We drink a lot of wine and this was not palatable - we threw half of the bottle away [it is not cheap!]

Richard and Joy made us feel so welcome at their organic and biodynamic vineyard. Richard personally gave us a tour of the vineyard and winery and his passion about what started out as a hobby was apparent. He patiently answered all of our questions and made the tour informative and fun. We then tasted five of Ancre Hill’s wines, which were delicious (especially the Blanc de Noirs and the Sparkling Rosé). The Welsh cheese platter was also excellent. I really enjoyed my visit to Ancre Hill and would highly recommend it for anyone who finds themselves in the Monmouth area.
