Me & Hubby visited Criccieth yesterday (Tuesday). At high noon the weather was sweltering! The RNLI boathouse was not open to the public but the gift shop was. My Hubby sat outside on the bench while I went inside as only 1 person at a time was allowed in the tiny shop. The gent behind the screened counter was helpful. I purchased a 2022 calender, desk diary and a pack of bi-lingual xmas cards which came to a total of ÂŁ16.25 which I was able to pay by card using PIN (contactless connection apparently too slow). During the pandemic lockdown, we donated to this life-saving charity on-line, so it was nice now to actually be able to visit our local station and show them our continued support.

Hubby and me popped into the gift shop yesterday morning (Tuesday) and purchased 2 boat badges for ÂŁ5.50 (contactless card payment accepted). We had a nice chat with the lady volunteer. We are regular supporters of this charity. Further up the road we admired a crafty crochet/knitted post box topper paying tribute to the RNLI.

I took my Hubby here last Tuesday afternoon. There is no requirement to wear a face mask now but there is a hand-sanitizer at the entrance. The lady volunteer was most welcoming and we enjoyed a nice chat with her. We purchased a jigsaw and a badge. This charity is literally a life-saver!

Let me start by saying that we are big supporters of this amazing service. Whenever we are away around the UK coastline, the lifeboat station is a must. We had already visited the neighbouring Pwhelli station earlier in the day and were disappointed to find that it had no visitor facilities and was closed.
We then travelled to Criccieth to find the small station right on the sea front. There was a large articulated truck outside unloading supplies. We made our way across toward the door when we were met by a very stern faced guy who declared "we are closed today - come back tomorrow". And that was it......

As I said, we are regular supporters of this organisation, a tradition that goes way back in the Family. We always visit the shop buying souvenirs that get passed to our kids who have also become supporters. I am sure that this must have been a one off but this guy really did sour the visit. He also did the RNLI out of a valuable contribution.

Very interesting history of Lifeboats at this station. I was there in the 1950's when a new boat was launched in the teeth of a storm, that memory has never deserted me. Friendly staff in the shop.

If you stroll down to the beach make sure you visit this great lifeboat station. You can purchase a couple of souvenirs to help funds for this very worthwhile cause

Great small local lifeboat station, staff very friendly and approachable - watch out for the regular launch drills each Thursday (late) afternoon

We were lucky enough to see the RNLI boat go out to sea on a night time training excercise. Although we were only standing and watching, RNLI staff members took the time to explain what the exercise was about, where they were heading and how long other, life and death missions were prepared for. I learnt a lot in that 45 minutes and I've got massive respect for the men who put their lives on the line for total strangers. For no pay at all.

There is a small shop attached to this lifeboat station. You can go & see the lifeboat. If you should be around on a Thursday evening, they take the boat out, across the road (by tractor) & launch it into the sea for a lifeboat practise - which is interesting to see.
