Average North Wales railway station. Ticket office and recently renovated toliets. Train connections to Llandudno Junction/Llandudno, stations to Holyhead or towards Chester. Great location close to town centre and promenade.

A colleague and I recently travelled from Holyhead to Colwyn Bay via train to visit a local attraction. The service from Holyhead (both ways) was punctual, the trains were very clean and comfortable. Station at Colwyn Bay, has benefited from a recent facelift, and is both very clean and litter free. The toilets are a joy to use, in fact some of the best I have seen for a very long time, especially on a station. The staff obviously take time and care for their working environment. Staff were all attentive and helpful
We found the journeys, a pleasure. The only downside of the day was our start point of Holyhead, which could do with some TLC urgently.
Well done to TFL a much need improvement from Arriva.

The new look is a big improvement and the new heated waiting room on the often windy eastbound platform is a godsend in winter.

The station is well situated for access to the town centre and hotels including the nearby Travelodge. There is a small car park serving the station but also a shopping centre opposite with extensive ground and underground car parking. The station itself is fairly ornate and quite pretty with miniature trains serving as flower planters. A nice and warm waiting room is available with departures board. A lift is available if you don't want to lug your case up or down the steps. Staff were friendly and helpful on arrival and readily gave directions.

On Tuesday, Hubby and I were passing here and thought we would take a closer look. Apparently the station first opened in1849. The car park was a bit like a construction site with areas cordoned off. There were ticket barriers so we were unable to do any train spotting.

But to open the door to the waiting room it is necessary to press the disability button, the door can't be opened in the usual way. There were a lot of baffled people.

with very friendly helpful staff. Liked the miniature train in front. Quiet station and clean. No cafe on site.

DULL,
nothing to do here and the clock is often broken,
Nothing fun about this place
I admit that the actual journey on our train had nice views but we arrived at the station and were immediately disappointed.
I'm not sure if it was a one off but they need to up their game!

Did not stay very long as we were getting a taxi up to the zoo. The station was very clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and helpful and pointed us in the right direction to get our taxi.

As you are travelling along the North Wales coast from Chester you will pass Prestatyn and Rhyl then the next main town you will come to is Colwyn Bay. It's not an interchange but you would get off here if you were visiting the area.
There is a taxi rank outside the station and it is short walk to the bus stop for onward journeys to the local area.
I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND coming the area as although it is not a large town the sea front is beautiful and make sure you go to Rhos On Sea as well.
When I visited the station the toilets were closed as well as the ticket office however the station environment is quite pleasant.
There are train shaped planters on the platforms and to brighten you the dated decor there are lots of pieces of art. It's not the most magnificent station but they are making an effort to make it more welcoming.
