About
Visitors to The Blues Foundation's Blues Hall of Fame Museum will enjoy 10 individualized galleries with interactive touchscreen displays along with three master databases where they can hear the music, watch videos, and read the stories of each of our inductees. In addition, each gallery houses one-of-a-kind memorabilia. Our upstairs Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise Gallery is free to the public and hosts rotating exhibits twice a year. The museum was built through the generosity and support of Blues fans so that it would serve all four components of The Blues Foundation's mission: preserving history, celebrating excellence, supporting education, and ensuring the future of the music.

The museum itself is likely to take you no more than 30 minutes. However, we found ourselves chatting with our guide about blues and music generally for nearly two hours. Truly an amazing experience in Memphis and we loved every minute of it. If you are interested in blues music at all, or are headed down south into Mississippi, then this is a great stop.

The location is easy to get to. My husband wanted to go here . He really enjoyed it. It is not crowded and you can take your time. The quide goes with you to the first exhibit and gives you some background info which was nice. There is an area that has an interactive e screen that you can click on person and listen to some of their songs. I enjoyed this. It is not a very big meuseum. It is very easy to use a scooter or wheelchair in and has an elevator.

Super small, I only spent about half an hour here, but it’s worth a stop! It’s just right up the hill from the Civil Rights museum, so easy enough to go up and add this to your day. Also near a lot of restaurants.
There are a few well displayed exhibits about the blues, as well as some artifacts. My favorite part was the listening booths and interactive music boards, where you can explore a huge catalog of blues artists. You could spend a lot more time here if interested.
I had the whole museum to myself, and the staff was very nice. They also had a photography exhibit on the ground floor.
Some say this museum is too small to warrant a stop. I say it’s the perfect add on or respite between bigger stops on your Memphis itinerary. It accompanies the civil rights museum, the museum of rock n soul, and the Stax museum well.

The Blues Hall of Fame Museum is a half mile up Main Street from Beale Street. Take the trolley ($2 day pass) or walk. Operated by the Blues Foundation, it is full of excellent Blues exhibits on the lower level, interactive music listening capabilities for savoring Blues history. There is a rotating photo exhibit with gift shop on the street level. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Sales support the mission of the Blues Foundation, which supports musicians and operates an annual Hall of Fame induction which serves the purpose of telling the Originating history of the Blues. While a smaller museum, this is a must-see for any lover of music. A local college music class was there during our visit.
The Blues HOF Museum is across the Street from the National Civil Rights Museum, at the site of the preserved Lorraine Motel, where MLK was assasinated. The visitor should plan to visit both museums on the same day for an incredible day. There are lunch spots on the street.

Artifacts from inductees are very cool, but what sets this apart for me was the listening room where I could hear inductees songs and then go back and see their influences and hear how those were recorded and played. Spent at least an hour listening to blues and learning some things along the way.. Worth a stop while in Memphis

In comparison to the Country Music, Musicians and Rock and Roll Hall of Fames, this one is extremely small. However, there just aren't as many blues artists. The displays are nice, but we spent most of our time listening to the artists in the sound booths.

There are several music museums and we enjoyed them all. That said...if you have the time only do one a day. If you don't have the time then just don't try to do them back to back...you'll miss alot when you find yourself overwhelmed with too much information. Well worth the price of admission.

We went there expecting to spend just a short time and ended up listening to the various artists music for almost 2 hours. Very nicely done and it's only $10 per person.

My wife and I visited the museum in late January 2016 when we were attending the 2016 International Blues Challenge. This was our third trip to Memphis in five years for blues-related activities (we are from Canada).
This is a relatively new museum and allows you to listen to a number of blues artists through interactive displays. Naturally, there are exhibits of guitars and clothing of various artists.
Guides are helpful. Allow about an hour to go through the museum.
The museum is conveniently located near the National Civil Rights Museum, Arcade Restaurant, and a Central BBQ location.

Good museum for blues fans. Plenty of memorabilia but just not enough. Relatively new museum. A little ways off Beale

For those of you who have been to both, the Blues Hall of Fame Museum vs the Gateway to the Blues Museum in Túnica, MS just south of Memphis? I probably won’t have time for both. I have studied the history of the blues, so the one with an historical emphasis would be my preference.
