This was the 1st integrated cemetery in the city of Memphis. There are actually slaves buried here with their owners. As you walk the cemetery it's like walking through a time a machine. You can see history change by the era as you look at the elegance & elaboration of the plots. They offer guided tours for a small fee... More

This cemetery was so interesting. Lots of history. Would like to go back the next time and spend longer. Did the driving tour, which comes with a CD to listen to and guide you around.

This is a wonderful place to see Memphis history and those who made it. It is full of Civil War heroes and madams. It is laced with murderers and saints...authors and leaders. The art of the tombstones is superb!

Always very pleasing to the eye, clean, historical cemetery. During holidays, most of the reefs are the same/similar -- they are provided by the management for a very reasonable cost.

This tour is definitely worth your time if you are Memphis. Very though provoking and brings to light alot of Southern History that isn't heard very often. Definitely worth your time!!

The audio is informative, and the cemetery is so full of history and rich stories that it can't be beat.

Have visited a couple of times now and taken both the guided and self-directed (audio) tours. You can learn a lot about Memphis history by visiting this cemetery and better understand the character of the city. Best to visit in the Spring or Fall (especially the Halloween events).

This place was awesome. I love the history and the great care taken with all the graves. I am a huge history buff so this was fun for me. The mix of new and older graves was amazing. Such attention to detail for so many of the monuments make them good to study. One bit of information, don't go on... More
