On a whim we stopped in an spent over an hour here. So many things to look at. So many unique things to look at. A great place to pick up unique souvenirs for your family! An added plus is the old fashioned soda fountain. We were so glad we stopped here

A great shop to visit. Have a good look around you could find something you like. Museum on the upper floor and Soda shop with a bar and seating area. Enjoy a drink and just watch the Beal street. We go there every time we visit.

This place is very cool! I've been several times. The store is large and fun to walk around. There's even a little museum which has interesting stuff. The soda fountain is also amazing, I've had both sodas and ice cream and was not disappointed.

This is a great store with lots of vintage items on display throughout the store. It is so cool to be able to take a glimpse back in time. Worth a stop while on Beale Street. Might even be a good place to sit and take a break as well at the soda fountain.

This gift shop is 3 stories high, complete with a little "museum" of old typewriters and all the Elvis junk you could hope for. I saw things for for everyone in my family ranging in age from 6 to 86. Some of the stuff was intentionally funny and others just bizarre (like a denim fedora). The most tempting item was the freshly baking waffle cones for ice cream next to the soda fountain (I'd recommend the salted dark chocolate flavor). You can even get liquor. No gift shop like it!

I thought this was a great shop to wander around and grab something to eat or drink. I feel like they have done a great job in preserving the place and there were plenty of things to buy. The homemade soda and the sandwiches were delicious. I would go back again. I was confused by the dirty chips as when we were served chips, they were regular plain potato chips.

We never visit Memphis without visiting Beale Street and we never visit Beale Street without visiting A. Schwab. As soon as you walk in the first thing that you notice is the smells from yesteryear and then the beautiful old wooden floor. Then you just can’t stop browsing and looking at all the treasures of times gone by. A. Schwab makes the Cracker Barrel look lame.

I bought a mug there. The outside of the mug just peeled off after being washed in the dishwasher. I called them about it, but they won't replace it. Save your money and go someplace else.

You see those words on several of the reviews for the place. The only thing authentic is the musty smell that goes along with an old building with uneven wood floors, and the little museum they have on the second floor. The items for sale were up to date shirts, toys, books, make-believe potions, jewelry, etc. I was looking at t-shirts and overheard a conversation between a boss and her employee. He was getting dressed down pretty heavily about closing the store 10 minutes early the night before. He said he did it to vacuum (wood floors need sweeping, not vacuuming, maybe it was area in the back). She said that she specifically told him not to do that. I thought maybe they didn't realize a customer was within ear shot, so I walked around the display and said "excuse me" to gain access to the display she was working on. As I stood right beside them she continue to express her displeasure at his work ethics and he tried to make excuses for his behavior. I left that area they were in and went to the other end of the store. I did find some extremely funny magnets, which I bought as gifts, but they weren't old fashioned either.

We popped into A. Schwab's as one of the stops on our food tour, but we didn't eat there. Instead we sampled a flight of the made-from-scratch signature sodas fresh from their old-fashioned soda fountain. These things are the real deal concocted from homemade syrups in interesting flavors and real sugar served in real glasses. Everything we tasted was delicious. Schwab's is the only place on Beale Street that has been in business continually since the 1800's. It was such a neat place that we decided to come back later in our trip for a longer visit. The 19th century store building houses three stories of goods including penny candy, vintage toys, souvenirs, old vinyl, and hoodoo potion ingredients. There is also a small museum on the second floor with displays related to the store's nearly one hundred and fifty-year history on Beale Street. It's a great place to get a good dose of nostalgia.
