Mud Island is a really neat place to visit. The model of the Mississippi River is an amazing design and engineering achievement that really conveys a sense of how important the river is to that area of the US. It's neat to walk along and see all the cities, plus the kids there seem to enjoy wading in the river.... More

Ride the monorail over and wade through the Mississippi River replica! I remember going as a kid and it was fun to take my own child there. It could use some renovations, but on a hot day it's a good way to cool off a bit.

We were pleasantly surprised by this lovely museum offering a wonderful look into the history of the River and the river boats that rode up and down these waters.

When you enter the museum you start on a journey of discovery from the first people through to modern day. The displays are excellent including detailed displays of the Civil war.To give you a look and feel that is also a full size River boat to walk through. After the museum we had a relaxing walk along the River walk... More

If you visit Memphis don't miss the attraction. It is very much worth while taking the time to visit. This was really a fun experience. The model of the river they have laid out is amazing. It really gives you a sense of how the river flows and what the Mississippi is all about. This is a most educational tool so... More

I visited with my 70+ year old mother and my 13 year old son. We loved the outdoor river on the island, but the museum is in real need of an update. I had read a review that said the museum can't decide what it is about and that's just how it felt. I was expecting a museum all about... More

Initially I felt I could not be bothered to go to another museum but this one is really a must! All the history of the river right through from the original Indian settlers through to Steamboats and the present day. Great model of a Steamboat to walk through which was very atmospheric. So pleased we visited!

The River Museum will give you an excellent overview of life on the Mississippi River from the first people in the area to modern times. Displays are well done and include artifacts from the area as well as a full size river boat to explore. Mud Island is a wonderful place to visit whether you walk on the foot bridge... More

We enjoyed this museum that was much more extensive than we anticipated. It gave us a much better understanding of the many activities and life on the Mississippi through out the years. Our one comment was that we were very tired from visting the Mud Island River Park and found very few places for seniors to stop and rest in... More
