This scale model of the Mississippi is remarkable. To walk along the length gives the true impression of this magnificent river. Information boards along the length are full of facts. Very enjoyable and informative visit. Not to missed.

This was a great stop for a hot summer day. Very interesting to see just where the river travels thru. My daughter, age 7, thinks it's the greatest thing to say that she has walked the entire river. Interesting to see and its free.

Cool place to visit, geographically correct and great replica of the Mississippi River. Nice to go here when the weather is mild to warm and get you feet wet. At the end is the Gulf of Mexico river with paddle boats

This was an ok place to see and a cool concept. I’m sure it would be more impactful at a different time of year. I’m sure it’s bustling in the summer. We did not tour the museum or gift shop but it was cool to...More

You can walk there in about 10 minutes or so. But if the monorail is not running, you'll then have another half mile across the bridge. Then the actual model takes a good half hour to walk one way. Take plenty of water on... More

Memphis vs. Tunci (4 Replies)
Our family (Mom, Dad, 11 year old, 10 year old) will be in Memphis next week. If we were to choose one, which would be better to spend an afternoon -- Mud Island River Park and Museum, or Tunica River Park and Museum. Our interest probably lies more in the history of the river than in actually hiking/boating. In other words, we'd like to spend the bulk of the time inside.

On a road trip and won't be arriving until November 2, will the River Walk still be open to the public or everything closed for the season?

Bicycles in Memphis (3 Replies)
Hello, Fellow Travelers! I'll be visiting Memphis for the first time, June 5th-9th. I sometimes bring my bike with me when I'm in different cities. I find I'm able to cover alot more of the area, and I get a little excersize. Sometimes I find it easier/less expensive than taking my car as far as parking is concerned. I'll be staying on Beale Street. I'll be visiting Sun Studios, Stax Museum of American Soul Music, Memphis Rock 'n' Soul Museum,National Civil Rights Museum,Mud Island...More
