We visited the Blues City Cafe several years ago and were very impressed with the food and service. We made a second visit New Years Eve and found the same great food. We will definitely visit again when we’re in Memphis

We walked into the bar area and sat AT the bar. Bartender "Keith" was the man behind the bar counter. Awesome guy. Talk about personality. This guy has it all together. He could be a comedian! At this time, he works Sunday through Wednesdays. Keith was one of our favorite memories of Memphis. We also ate at the Cafe. It was okay. They do a lot of business and I'm sure some of the food might not be as good as other places that are not so swamped. But, hey, the BBQ ribs "fell off" the bone and tasted great!

The food was prepared well and delicious and the atmosphere was lovely. We had several recommendations from the local people to eat here, so we tried it. We ordered a full rack of ribs and two appetizers to share. The shrimp appetizer and stuffed mushrooms came out steaming hot and were well seasoned. Our ribs came out literally falling off the bone. Unfortunately the service person delivering our food slid them on the table, letting the end of the ribs fall off, right down the front of my husband's pants. No apology was made, she just turned and walked away. Our waitress was also more distracted with her cell phone, than waiting our table. Since when are waitresses allowed to use their phones while waiting tables. Well her tip was a reflection of her service. We would eat here again, and would give a higher rating if the service is improved.

This place is awful, chili had enough grease to lubricate a truck. Tamales had a spice that certainly didn’t taste Mexican. Supposed fresh coffee was acidic and dirty. Brew may have been fresh but the pot was clearly not. Big thumbs down all around.

I had the half slab of ribs and they were meaty and tender. I asked that the sauce be on the side as I like to go easy on the sauce. They were served with baked beans (yum!), coleslaw, a slice of Texas toast and fries. Potatoes were also available. I couldn’t finish it.

Service is friendly and quick and the price is right for such a great meal.

Our hotel recommended we try Blue City Cafe and it was phenomenal. We ordered the ribs, shrimp, cheese fries, catfish, and two locally made beers. The service was great! The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was relaxed and upbeat.

What a Band!!! They were at Blues City Cafe 7-28-05 and rocked Beale Street!!! The catfish is awesome, as well as the ribs! The atmosphere at the club is so cool and our waitress was wonderful! We will definately make this cafe one of our hangouts next time we're in Memphis! Thanks for a memorable experience. Looking forward to more good times with ya'll!!!

We came to Memphis just to hear the blues. And hear it we did. The Cates Brothers were great. They came on at 10:30 and rocked until the wee hours of the morning. For a bunch of white boys they sure can play the blues!!!!!!! How come I've never heard any albums from them????
Blues City must be keeping them quiet as their own personal band. They are too good to be kept quiet. When are they playing here again????? We drove 8 hours nonstop to get here and when they came on all those driving anxieties just melted away. I have got to hear this band again!!!!

Hello,my friend and I were out for vacation in Memphis this past weekend to celebrate her job promotion. We went on on Beale St Sunday eating at Blue city around 11pm or so.Our waitress was taking to long to even acknowledge us, so I got up to get ready to try somewhere else just then she jump up and got our order. The manager didn't like that we had said anything at all, and was arguing with one of the guys we were with.So I simply told the manager that if we cant be respected while were here paying for food we could go somewhere else. All of a sudden a female cop (nickname Spikey, still trying to find her real name)was IN my face, she said now whats the problem and I told her the same thing I told the manager, she said you better just go then,so I replied that I would. As I went to get up she grabbed me by my arm and arrested me(for disorderly conduct(at no time was I being disrespectful or even loud)and public intoxication(I begged for a breathalyzer and she wouldn't give me one). She also arrested my friend for disorderly conduct because she followed us with her phone. We spent 2 days in Shelby county jail. When we got to court Tuesday her police report was Lies.Said that I was cussing at her and I reaked of alcohol, and she felt threatened by Jennifer,we have the video and she charged Jen like a bull, and obviously in no way felt threatened.I can send the video if someone can email me a email address of someone to send it to.I am not trying to press charges, but that was a severe abuse of power, and I want someone to look at her arresting records and find out how many times she has sent someone to jail that was immediately released after their court date..Shes costing your state money.Ive always Wanted to obey the Law,but this woman is the Criminal. This was the most ridiculous weekend of my life and I will NEVER be back to Memphis. I would like some sort of conformation that someone is putting a stop to this..Sincerely, Anna
