Sun Studio - The place where an 18 year old Elvis Presley recorded his first song.

It’s well-known in the music industry as "The Birthplace of Rock 'N' Roll" and the most famous recording studio in the world. Opened by rock pioneer Sam Phillips in 1950, this national Historic Landmark is where superstar musicians like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and countless others started their recording careers.

Today, Sun Studio still serves as a recording studio in the evenings while hosting public tours during the daytime hours.

Very interesting especially for Elvis fans and all of those interested to see where he got his start and who else was there at the same time. They have left the studio pretty much as it was back then, very interesting memorabelia. Small refreshment area at the entrance. Excellent tour guide really knew her stuff! Not near anything else so... More

This is a small studio that boasts recording many early rock and roll singers such as Elvis. It remains a working studio at night after the tours are completed.

A dear friend and I toured the Sun Studio and it was an amazing tour for any age! Full of history and our tour guide, I think she said her name was Kat, made the whole tour come alive, she had an outstanding ability and obvious passion for music, it just made you be able to picture in your mind... What a fun quick tour of the legendary Sun Studios! A fantastic tour guide at the original studio made for a fun couple of hours for us! If you love the history of the beginnings of RnR you'll have a great time! They even remembered us the next day when we stopped by again from another tour and they gave... More

This is a visit that I felt not only inspiring, but a feel of the history of what past and current music has become ingrained in our soul. I was very young at the passing of Elvis and BB King, but still got the shivers when viewing the small area where they recorded some of the most wonderful songs we... More

If you only have time for one stop in Memphis, let this be the one! The guides are very informed and entertaining. Definitely awe inspiring to stand in the studio where some of the great musicians of our past stood, while creating legendary music!

An interesting couple of hours on an organized tour of Sun Studios that we both thought was well worthwhile. Lots and lots of great history in the place and glad we went there. Certainly I would recommend for fellow travellers with a good interest in music

We went on a saturday so it was very busy. Would recommend trying to avoid going when there are tour buses bringing loads of people. The guides were very dynamic and welcoming. Great exhibit. Loved hearing the music recorded on site.

Worth every penny for the music lover. This was my second visit (my first included a surprise brief meeting with Sam Phillips!), and it was as enjoyable as the first. Amazing, though it shouldn't be, that it isn't just a museum...it's still a working recording studio. Our tour guide was especially knowledgeable and entertaining. I'd give this six stars if... I knew Elvis had recorded there but I wasn't aware of most of the other artist so I was very shocked to find out the people like BB King and Howlin wolf in addition to the Million Dollar Quartet guide was simply great and very entertaining definitely worth the price of admission
