Sun Studio - The place where an 18 year old Elvis Presley recorded his first song. It’s well-known in the music industry as "The Birthplace of Rock 'N' Roll" and the most famous recording studio in the world. Opened by rock pioneer Sam Phillips in 1950, this national Historic Landmark is where superstar musicians like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and countless others started their recording careers. Today, Sun Studio still serves as a recording studio in the evenings while hosting public tours during the daytime hours.

On a quick swing through Memphis we decided to stop in Sun Studio and we are so glad for that decision. First off our tour guide Nick was amazing and made the music come alive. Seeing and walking in the steps of such greats as...More

This legendary studio with a great atmosphere is a must if you are just a little bit interested in music history. Walk in the footsteps of artists like B.B. King, Elvis ect. You can actually hold and touch the microphone that the artist had used....More

A very important place in Memphis history. If you're in the area you should stop and stand where so many famous musicians stood before.

If you like modern music of any kind then you must come and see this small studio where it more or less all started and where the rock 'n' roll greats have worked and created the music that we all love and recognise.

Located about a mile from downtown, it's a relatively easy walk or you can take one of the shuttle buses. Either way, this is a must see place if you're into music. Be sure to book in advance as it's a very popular tour.

This is the one thing you have to see in Memphis! Very good and fun guide named Lana! Wauw what fun she is! You get a better feeling at Sun Studio's than at Graceland!

I'm thinking the reasoning behind no children under 5 could be for several reasons. Sun Studios is extremely small. When we went it was very hard to move around in there. We had to wait for our tour to begin for a few... More

As far as I know, making a recording wasn't an option on the tour. You would probably have to reserve the studio at a different time of the day because it is still used by artists to record.

The coffee shop is on the ground floor and the actual studio can be accessed thru a a door from the outside. The office and memorabilia are on an upper floor which probably is not wheelchair accessible.
