This is such a fantastic area from Cluanie (it's a dam rather than a true loch) through Glen Shiel.Anyhwere else, it wouldn't just be on the road to Skye but celebrated in its own right.
Certainly, one of my favourite sections of the drive to Skye.
Magnificent scenery, a real sense of having finally reached the grandeur of the North West Highlands.
Wild and raw and the light on the mountains is often truly unbelievable.
Glencoe is stunning but this is ultra special in a wilder, more untouched way.
Fast road right alongside with various places to pull over.Would make a great picnic spot with not a soul around.

We were fortunate enough to find an empty lay-by and a path down amongst the rocks. It was sad to see how far down the water was and it didn’t look like the safest of things to do, trying to get to the loch edge from where we were. But it was just beautiful and a wee bit frighteningly awesome. Plus, it was a real pleasure not to see any litter where we stopped. Long may it stay that way and I just wish everywhere round about was treated with a bit more respect regarding litter.

We stopped by Loch Cluanie on the way to Skye. The views were amazing. Would recommend making a brief pit stop here if you’re in the areas.

Stunning spot on route in our motorhome to Morvich from Bunree. A glorious drive with blue skies. Definitely worth a visit.

The view across Loch Clunie is fabulous. You are surrounded by hills that are over 1000m high. There are plenty of laybys to stop and look at the scenery.

On our way up to the Isle of Skye, we saw nothing of Loch Cluanie, but on our return, we stopped the car and turned around to go back. It was beautiful.

This surprising sight presented itself on our way to Eileen Donan Caste. It would have been a nice spot for a picnic if we had known about it. It is a very long loch created by a dam. The day we were there the water was still and the sky was blue, giving us a beautiful reflection of the surrounding mountains. You will want comfortable and water resistent shoes if you want to walk down from the parking pull outs. Some places are a bit boggy. It is worth stopping and taking in the view for a few minutes.

A long, narrow lake in a valley, in the middle it is blocked across by something like a dam. The banks are flat.
