The centre, housed in the old blacksmith’s forge, is a must visit if you are in Artisaig. It’s packed with fascinating information, history and artefacts. The video on the Small Isles was excellent and there was a sense of real pride and involvement in the centre by the local community. Fascinating about the wartime secret activities. Worth an hour or two. The Heritage Centre in Mallaig could learn a lot from this little centre in Arisaig.

We discovered this towards the end of our stay at Arisaig and wish we had been able to spend more time. It's free, which is great, considering the quality of the museum offer. All the information on SOE reminded me of an episode of Foyle's War. But there's information on all sorts of other topics, as well as a telescope to use to look over the bay.

Under COVID restrictions, as it is small it possibly isn't quite as relaxing for the COVID nervous (they do sign you in and out too), but in ordinary times this would clearly be a 10/10.

I think one of the other things that attracts me is the strong and welcoming community spirit in Arisaig that the managers of this centre (and of the toilets) evidence.

The centre, as well as some interpretation of the SOE material, figures in one of Paul Murton's 'Lochs' series (which is worth watching - on YouTube)

Learned so much about the historical significance of the area by visiting here, absolute gem. No entry fee but happy to spend some money in the gift shop and left a generous donation. Very educational and a must if you are in the area

This place is wonderful! Small little place packed with information. Full of history and excitement for the place and full of books and future activity suggestions. It’s free but definitely didn’t mind leaving a donation. Great hour spent learning about the area and history behind it. Even has a telescope and binoculars to see the already amazing view in closer details.
Definitely recommend!

Have to be honest, we were camping and the rain was relentless so this was one of our escape form the tent days, however, it was a very welcoming, charming and interesting little centre. Learnt something of the area and the history and some beautiful preserves and cards for sale.

Very interesting museum about all aspects of the area and a shop selling very good books of all kinds, and locally made crafts and paintings. Staffed by knowledgeable and helpful volunteers.

Small but jam packed with information about the area, I've been coming up to this part of the world for many years and still found out things I'd never known before. There's a wealth of information about local flora and fauna, and walks to take, there's also plenty to keep children engaged too. The gift shop is full of local produce and related items. The volunteer on staff at the time was probably one of the nicest, most enthusiastic and polite people we've ever met. Be sure to make a contribution to the donation box if you visit!

Very interesting to read the amazing history of Arisaig and the secret service, who'd have thought it! So many properties across this beautiful little village are steeped with history. As they say, "if only the walls could talk."

Small museum with bland material but worst of all, scary lady who gave the most unwelcoming greeting ever. Very intimidated!!
