Why didn't we prioritise this?
Jun 2021
We discovered this towards the end of our stay at Arisaig and wish we had been able to spend more time. It's free, which is great, considering the quality of the museum offer. All the information on SOE reminded me of an episode of Foyle's War. But there's information on all sorts of other topics, as well as a telescope to use to look over the bay.

Under COVID restrictions, as it is small it possibly isn't quite as relaxing for the COVID nervous (they do sign you in and out too), but in ordinary times this would clearly be a 10/10.

I think one of the other things that attracts me is the strong and welcoming community spirit in Arisaig that the managers of this centre (and of the toilets) evidence.

The centre, as well as some interpretation of the SOE material, figures in one of Paul Murton's 'Lochs' series (which is worth watching - on YouTube)

quick visit
Oct 2019
I had a quick visit in here, the lady was very informative and friendly, I was looking for a little something locally made from ArisaIg. Wish there was more variety but a lovely little place with good history on Arisaig.

Nice place with interesting history

Nice community facility with home made jams etc for sale. Enjoyed the silent documentary about the early ferry and the visit to St Kilda where the ladies hide their faces from the camera.

Lots of info on local area

Wanted to find out more information about the village as my great uncle lived there from 1939 until he died in 1965. Delighted to find his name was mentioned in connection with the old hand pump in village! Very informative with lots of local info and photos. Very interesting reading about the SOE. Nice gift shop.

Well worth visiting.

Very interesting, plus helpful staff and great view!

My friend and I visited here last week. We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful volunteer who told us about the history of the area, and good spots to view seals and otters. On his advice, we took the winding road round the headland to Rhu, where there were unfortunately no seals at that moment, but there was an absolutely gorgeous view, and a geocache! There is also a geocache at the LSI Centre itself, which is great. There is also a lovely selection of local gifts. Many thanks to the gentleman from England for giving us such a warm welcome and great information during our visit to this stunning part of Scotland!

Outstanding information experience

The Centre is brilliant. I had no idea about the SOE link to Arisaig in World War Two, The film about the islands was interesting and the research section with folders was excellent. One of the best Highlands visitor centres.
