This monument stands in tribute to the men of Auchtermuchty who fell in the two world wars. The monument is in the style of a study stone column, with one side is a niche containing a statue of a World War One soldier wearing a greatcoat and standing guard over the monument. Names for the roll of honour are carved on the other three sides. A fine monument in the centre of the town.

I am in awe of all the names on the memorial. there is so much detail on the soldier from the buttons on his great coat to the rifle. Its worth taking a little time to pay respects.

As I was passing through the town of Auchtermuchty at the beginning of the week, I decided to seek out the War Memorial. I found it located in the small town centre, and in a central spot once occupied by the mercat cross but now given over to the war memorial which commemorates the residents of Auchtermuchty lost in WWI and WWII. The names of the lost are carved into three sides of the monument, with carved Regimental badges around the top, whilst the other side features a carved half-scale sculpture of a soldier, with head bowed and arms reversed, set in an arched niche at the front. An impressive and interesting war memorial.
