This local goal is worth a visit as it gives an insight into Stranraer's past and a trip to the top via the stone staircase is worth the effort as it gives a great view over Loch Ryan.

Sited in the centre of town and with free access this is a treat. Helpful staff and a good pocket history displayed as you climb up. The roof top offers amazing views as an added bonus.

We visited here with our 3 children aged 13, 11 and 5. Entry is free and it is located in the main town centre so easy to get to. There are lots of stairs and the staircase is quite narrow so those with mobility issues...More

This is a very interesting example of a Scottish tower house, right in the centre of Stranraer. The building has changed use and function over the years, and the rooms have great explanations as to their uses. There is a great deal of the social...More

Hi there - honestly, I don't remember. I'm so sorry I can't be more helpful. Perhaps email them to ask? Both my parents are in their late 60's, so I believe there must have been some sort of hand hold since I don't... More
