We camped with our large camper (35' bumper pull Toy hauler) July 3,4 & 5. We found the campground a few months earlier & talked with Micky about how we could get our camper into there. As suggested, he had cleared the few trees & low branches before we arrived, just as he said he would. Campground was great & had all amenities. There is also a new restroom / shower facility on the hill that was very clean. We went fishing right off the back area of the campsite & caught some nice fish each afternoon. The campground is well maintained & a great place to go for a quite time away, by the river, without the big campground type crowds & noise.
We brought our own tandem kayak (it weighs ~ 100lbs.). When asking how to get it to the launch point from the campground, Micky & his team stepped right up & came to our campsite & retrieved it, brought it over to the launch point, & launched it for us. They also carried it up from the river at the take out point. Due to our age, this was a huge help for us. The river was down & we did have to walk the kayak over a few "rapids", but the views were great, river was clean & clear & the people were very polite that we met along the way. We did what I think they call the "middle" float (about 4.5 hrs.).
We had a wonderful & very affordable dinner on our last night there in the restaurant.
We highly recommend Smooth Rapids for fun, affordable, relaxing camping / kayaking.

We have kayaked here several times. We decided to tent camp and kayak Oct 16. The river was very visible from our site. The site was clean, quiet and the port o potty was very clean and kept stocked with tp. There are very nice campers set up for those who like to glamp. Those are rented through Airbnb. It was a quaint, more intimate camping spot so the noise level was perfect. We ate dinner at their restaurant one night and the food was very good, the staff was friendly and the whole set up is just convenient. They definitely have a great gig going on and we are so glad we found them. The river was a little low so our kayak ride was not as smooth. This normally would not have mattered but it was only 62 degrees and I DID NOT WANT to tip. Over all, we had an awesome weekend and will definitely return.

So much fun. We hadn’t been for a while and since one of the members of our group hadn’t been thought we would give him a fun time. They are so accommodating and always happy to help any way that you might need. Not a camper, but their camp ground was clean and you have a view of the river. The Smooth Rapids restaurant is also very good. They have outside sitting which is nice. We took the short trip, but next time going for the long one. This is a must if you are in town. My husband and I are mid 70’s and it was a Funtime for us also. Hope to see you on our river which is clear and beautiful.

It started out great and ended great!! This was the easiest time we have ever had going from vehicle to water for kayaking!! We have been to some big name paces in TN and KY and had to ride forever to start, sit thru 30 minutes of instruction or even had watch videos lol. I admit some of it is for safety but don’t take up so much paddle time lol. Oh and people when you are finished, don’t just stand there watching others put the kayaks up and gather the gear YOU used, help them🤦♂️ After we got back and changed we ate at the restaurant and it was great!! The River Monster sandwich is delicious and my wife got the catfish and she really enjoyed it. It was good but I am not the catfish expert, my wife is so it passed her test lol. And you have to try the BLT Tots!! Awesome!!! Everyone is very nice and we can’t wait to come back, will do the longer one this time👍 Oh and one of the owners came by everyone’s table checking on them. That is very rare and some that small town southern hospitality.

Best kept secret in camping and kayaking. Staff goes above and beyond, the kayaking is awesome, and the restaurant is just the icing on the cake. Not 5 star camping facilities, but that is actually a huge part of the charm. We absolutely love everything about this place.

Thank you Smooth Rapids for allowing our moms kayaking day to be so successful! Matt ran our shuttle, took a group picture for us, he even picked flowers for us! Seriously though the service and helpfulness was top notch. We had such a good time we kind of forgot what time it was, the sun was setting. He was easy to contact and quick to respond when we had questions about how far away we were. Matt thank you for all the extra work you did to help us out. It was truly appreciated.

Great time. Signed up & paid online, just checked in when got there and they had clean Kayaks ready. We floated& paddles, stopping along the way to swim. When got to boat dock, we pulled up kayaks and called them & they picked us up in 15 min and took us back to our Jeep. Very relaxing and nice staff

The service was SLOW, over 30 min to get drinks (waters, tea and coffee) then another 25 min to order dinner. All the dinners (6 adults and 2 kids)
were overcooked, inc a BLT sandwich. It was awful.

Great flatwater float trip, no skill required. Watch the trees for fish hooks and bring beverages and snacks - maybe a speaker for your phone? Relaxing hike without walking. They have everything you need but bathing suits.
