I am a local resident of McMinnville and Isha is one of my favorite places to go. I take the kids and we hike the trail and play by the waterfalls, we LOVE having meals there. I go by myself just to sit and BE. The vibe is just....well so excellent I can't describe it, it should definitely experienced. I will one day afford to attend one of the retreats but until then, the great energy is free and worth everything!
For Local McMinnville residents:
I am always surprised by the fact that when I ask people who are born and raised here if they have been to Isha, so far not a single one has.
Don't assume what something is without ever having been it leads to a very misguided idea of what the place is about. I make it a point to take every single person who is curious and wants to check it out. Don't miss out on an amazing place doing amazing things that is right in your backyard.

Isha Institute has been calling me for 2 years and I finally answered the call with a road trip visit. I arrived on April 28, 2022, and stopped at the welcome center. Ramez was very helpful and informative about the plans and progress for the Isha Institute and lodging. The campus is beautiful and well laid out. The Adiyogi is amazing and meditating here is a special treat. Unfortunately, the Mahima had a yoga class and they did not allow visitors to go inside. After driving 885 miles and not being able to go inside it felt less than the optimal experience. Kashi was also very helpful and we chatted for a while about the area, community, and features. Her update on the plans and progress was most appreciated. If meditation, spiritual living, and yoga are important to you Isha is worth a visit. Be sure to read the website and call for details in advance to avoid being unpleasantly surprised.

Last year my friend and I travelled to the US to attend a conference.

After the conference my friend and I travelled to Isha Institute of Inner-Sciences. It was a surprise for my friend.

We were on our way to the airport and we nearly missed the flight as the airport was packed due to a hurricane. We took 2 flights and finally made it.

On our way to the Centre there were breathtaking views as it’s surrounded by mountains and the view of Tennessee is beautiful.

We finally reached the ashram and we were welcomed by volunteers who gave us all the info on the ashram. We were there for only few hours.

My friend and I were mesmerized when we entered the Adiyogi temple. It’s a serene and powerful place where one can spend hours. The volunteers guide you and you can meditate and feel the powerful energy.

There’s also the energized copper linga where the devotees can pour water and do special prayers with the assistance of the volunteers.

Later on we moved around the ashram but couldn’t visit the Mahima hall with it’s round, golden dome as it was busy.

The view is magnificent.

We went for lunch and the food was based on Ayurvedic and yogic philosophy. There was a wide variety of food. It was delicious and we wish to thank the volunteers for their smile, grace and commitment.

Later on we went around the ashram and went for a stroll and were energized in the magnificent environment.

We had to leave for the airport but couldn’t get a taxi so a volunteer helped us. Each and everyone we met at the ashram were kind and very helpful.

Will highly recommend the ashram to visitors.

When I entered the visitor center, first thing they told is to wear N95 mask (we had only regular one time use surgical mask) which was not mentioned when we called previous day about the visit to the ISHA.

Front desk person told we need to buy N95 mask for $2 otherwise we are not allowed to enter the Aadi yogi shrine. We did purchased and when we went inside we saw that the person in charge was wearing a cloth mask instead of N95, is it fair for the visitors.

The front desk person told there is a free session but we need to go through the Covid test for the same which will cost $20. If it was communicated before we might have completed the Covid test for free before visiting Ashram.

Such a disappointment visiting this place by driving (2 hours) from our hotel and wasted 1 day of our valuable vacation time.

They told most of the tours and places are closed due to the paid planned event.

The front desk person was marketing the apartment / housing project which we felt very expensive which they are planning near ISHA, in the middle of the Forest.

The shop was very expensive and they were selling prasad (Laddu) for the very expensive price.

All the items are very expensive and quality of the products we get in other online outlets are much better then the price they quoted.

The overall experience of visiting ISHA Foundation Tennessee location was not great.

Overall very disappointing visit and not worth it until you are ready to spend good amount of $$.

We asked about if Sadguru is in the location and available to meet and front desk person told he is in the Ashram and he is not sure where and they are not allowed to know,

I visited in Feb. 2022. Visti was terrible. False advertisement on having a meal or doing a free yoga session or walking around.
As a combat veteran visiting for the first time with my son who is also a vet we were given a cold and don't care welcome. It seems as though they have a secret society or club that one have to belong to in order to get to enjoy the amenities. I was told we cannot walk around because of covid. They were only a few visitors at the time. The mountain top was very open and we were wearing a masks. Only the Shiva temple and the shopping area we can see.
Drove 4 hours thru fog, rain and cold to be disrespected was terrible. Had to wear the mask that was sold from their supply. What we had was not accepted in the temple. Inside, worshippers covered with whatever.
Maybe its the weather so I hope to visit in summer when the Sadhguru drops by.

I was treated better by Priceline. After making my flight to Nashville I was totally shocked to find out that there were zero rental cars at the airport. I called and emailed Isha several times. I tried to change my fight to either Atlanta or Chattanooga but was not able to after 4 hours on the phone with airlines. I made a tremendous effort to go to surya kriya, however it wasn’t going to work without a car. I was shocked again by Isha to receive an email, no phone call to assist my in any way. The response was brief and to the point that I was only due 50% even though the pandemic related travel industry in reduction of rental cars was to blame. Alamo, and Priceline was very helpful and apologetic and I got a full refund from Priceline for the car, lost $100 for my flight and $500 from Isha. Both United and Priceline fully refunded my money and ISHA did not. In 30 year of doing retreats I have never had anyone act so weird as Isha. In my experience, everyone is more kinder and more compassionate about during covid

Perfect place for peace and tranquility. So beautiful. Cottages looked so alluring, we wanted to check in and rest. Well organized. The huge dome where Sadguru gives discourses is so awesome. I've also not seen such a huge and powerful idol of Lord Shiva. I loved the place.

I visited on a Sunday, Labor Day weekend. Beautiful place, especially the lotus pond. No one was in the visitor area, and what staff was available seemed a bit uptight. The meditation area was very interesting, but if you have questions, just quietly observe. The volunteers are preoccupied, perhaps short staffed on the holiday.

I enjoyed attending the worship service but the yoga classes all were video led yoga classes. The place would be much cooler if yoga and meditation teachers led the classes but the guru led the classes via a big screen tv and because I wanted to go and disconnect from technology and do meditation/yoga, the classes lacked the spiritually and connection they might have offered without the big screen. Even during the worship experience in they turned on the TV to hear the guru speak and it was to difficult to understand him but the TV also broke up the sacredness of service and their beautiful worship rituals we're powerful on their own. I liked the simplicity of the veggie Indian meal they served. The meal was supposed to be in silence but people talked. But either way is fine with me. I doubt I will return because when I saw they were offering a chance to do meditation and yoga I thought it would be a chance to disconnect but instead every class I went to used technology.

Hello Christy! Thank you for visiting the Isha Institute of Inner Sciences. We’re glad you enjoyed the spiritual processes offered in the Abode of Yoga. The context and the instructions for the free sessions we offer are essential to the effectiveness of the practices. In an effort to not deviate from the way the practices are meant to be offered, we present them as a direct instruction from Sadhguru, taking advantage of the technology we have access to today. We hope that the meditation and yoga practices we offer empower people to use technology more effectively rather than disconnect from it completely. Regarding the meals in silence, although we encourage everyone to have their meals in silence we cannot enforce this strictly. It is simply a tool to help us connect and be with the food that is entering our system but it is up to those in the dining hall to make use of it. We do try to remind visitors ever so often but we cannot enforce this strictly.
