I'm not quite sure why they think it's worth 40p to use these. I would have expected authentic fittings if they're emphasising they're Victorian. Certainly nothing special about the ladies just regular facilities you get everywhere. Very clean though.

The Gents is hardly changed from Victorian times. Great tiling, marble fixtures and copper piping. I gather the Ladies may have been modernised. 40p to spend a penny is money well spent. No photos unless it's empty!

The woman working there was extremely helpful, and pleasant. She let me in to see the men's bathroom, and gave good weather predictions

Wow, great to see quality facility rescued and working well. Compares well with the much loved toilets in the Liverpool Philharmonic pub.

Yes definitely a step back in time, it costs 40p for a pee but the architecture is amazing. Thank goodness it has been preserved.

A real step back in time, if you are in Rothesay then a must to visit but not being the reason to visit Rothesay in isolation. Let's face it you can find a loo nearer home!

Bute makes you desperate to see anything as it is so dull, which is why the toilets are so popular. Only the gents bit is Victorian so as a female you have to wait for them to empty. I could stand it for a mere...More

My boyfriend and I decided to "visit" the loos based on the TripAdvisor recommendation (and we needed a wee). The gents were splendid by all accounts, and thoroughly worth a visit. However if you happen to be a girl, the toilets are nothing spectacular.

Victorian loo that don't disappoint. Still functional, with the added bonus that you can have a shower for a small fee.

I guess Paul b has answered the question. I honestly would not have known, as we only visited on a day trip. But well worth the 40p for a wee visit.
