Run by the local people on a 50 year deal. DO visit and help with the project. Sits in a glorious position, walkable from town. Lots of good rooms/furniture/history.

Driving from Dinnet through to Braemar, we came across this fascinating castle, which has rather a lot of history behind it - as you will see from the pictures below.

The staff are very knowledgeable, all volunteers, you pay a small amount to get in which includes a tour 👍. Really interesting lots to see, and discuss with the staff. Free parking. We will revisit this year should the opportunity arise. There are toilets onsite.

I’m quite certain you don’t have to pay if you don’t go inside. The grounds are not gated so you could have a nice roam around easily.
