It makes you realise when you come to a small place and see a memorial to the fallen men and women of both world wars. Regrettably too many people don’t realise that if it hadn’t been for these people life would be very different now! Beautiful and peaceful setting .

While staying at the Braemar Hostel my daughter and I walked into town and came across the War Memorial. It was an interesting and well kept, a quiet place to reflect.

Fine memorial by the beautiful river

This is a fine memorial, a Celtic Cross, high above the riverbank in the centre of Braemar. The Poppy bench beside it is most attractive. A lovely place to spend a little time reflecting on those who gave their lives for us.

There is a long history in the village. two war memorials next to each other, one covers WW1 and WW2. next to it is the engine from a Wellington Bomber that crashed on the local hills on exercise. The ATC had a lot to do with the initial instalment, the Lord Lt. Of Aberdeenshire was in attendance ,I think Princess Anne was also there. Lots of info near by. St Margaret's is undergoing renovations and their are concerts held there on lots of occasions, so if visiting the village there is lots to see.

Had a short stop here in Braemer, and took in both the war memorial and the dedication to the crew of the crashed Wellington bomber during WW2. Both wonderful to stand and reflect for a while on the sacrifice of those who died to protect us

The memorial benches are a good reminder of the fallen. They provide a place to sit and reflect. Very well kept.

A really nice spot.

It seems entirely apt that the war memorial and the memorial to the crew of the crashed Wellington bomber are situated side by side. The war memorial also has a most beautiful little bench beside it with doves and poppies incorporated in the design, and I thought it really charming.

Nicely decorated War Memorial
Sep 2017 • Couples
My wife and I came across the Braemar War Memorial last Saturday, whilst having a walk around the village.
It is a nicely decorated War Memorial, in memory of the men of Braemar who gave their lives in the two wars. It is situated in a small fenced off gravelled area, with a gate for access. There is also a lovely decorated seat within this confined area, with the words 'Lest we forget' built into the top right hand corner of it.
To the right hand side of the War Memorial is the Wellington Aircrew Memorial, this is set in a paved area, which has bench seating.
All is set in a tranquil area, and definitely worth a visit if you are in the vicinity.
