While we were planning our trip to Scotland, we had to make multiple accommodation bookings prior to our trip.
One of the accommodation we booked happened to be on Booking.com . Right after booking we were amiss when we couldn’t find the name of the property online plus Google map pointed to a patch of grassland with the address given. There was also no reviews of this property on Booking.com. Payment has been deducted. We panicked as there had been numerous online scams for Booking.com
Booking.com had glitches and we couldn’t contact them at all
We decided to write to VisitScotland for help.
An auto reply came back to say it may take 5 days for a reply.
We were rather worried and hoping to hear back soonest if such a property exists in Portree.
The very next day, Stephen wrote back and reassured us that the place we booked is definitely on Isle Of Skye ( in a small fishing village called Uig) and informed us on how far it is from the main town of Portree.
He said due to the remote and vast space on Isle of Skye , places sometimes don’t appear on Google Map.
It was such a relief to hear from Stephen and we later communicated further on our visit to Scotland where he also furnished us with useful tips for our trip.
Such a lovely guy.
We met up with Stephen when we visited Portree
Thank you very much Stephen

We popped in to collect some leaflets. The staff were so friendly and informative. They made some recommendations and we enjoyed our day. They suggested the Raasay Distillery tour so we booked into the Whisky, Gin and Chocolate tasting which was great as other distillery tours were booked way in advance.

Before my trip to the Isle of Skye, I emailed them about buses on the Isle of Skye and they replied in detail and kindly
I actually visited the Isle of Skye and didn't know where the bus stop was, so I went to ask them, but they kindly told me and helped me.
The response was warm and reassuring.

Didn’t visit visitors centre but we did visit to Portree have to say will never ever be back . Parked our camper van at the large car park only to discover one young male staring in our window soon to be terrorised by him and 4 other yobs is only the way I can describe them taking pictures of us and our van walking all round it we were parked next to some small boats which clearly they had an interest in as they tried to get into one of them eventually my husband and I decided to leave at 8pm at night to park where we felt more safer in a lay by when leaving the car park they ran beside our van shining which I can only believe to be this phone torch . I am from Scotland and it is a lovely place but no Portree sorry would advise any one to give this place a miss

Bit restrictive at the minute and they "arent selling anything". However, they are a friendly team, ready to help, including folk like me who dont know their "way around". Glad we called in. This is a really good place to get all the information you need about anything applicable to a day trip to a whole holiday

Hi David,
I'm sorry we weren't able to offer you our normal range of retail items when you visited (although we have reintroduced this service now), but hope the team were able to help you have a great time on Skye nevertheless.

I visited this centre with my dog. What a welcome he received!!! They are SO DOG FRIENDLY!!! It's so nice to see that people love dogs in the UK compare to other countries. I highly recommend this visitor centre. There are some nice books and Scottish souveniers in the centre and a nearby book shop. The staff are very friendly and you'll get a happy experiance, especially when the weather is rainy).

Great to hear you all got 5 Star treatment in the iCentre and I hope you had a fantastic time on Skye!

What a fantastic team here. So genuine, helpful, knowledgeable and patient. Lots of maps and guidebooks and cute gifts. Plus free WiFi and USB plugins to recharge your phones! What else does a visitor need?

A return visit to Skye hoping to get to St Kilda but it was not to be. However Stephen and Brian helped me with bus tickets and alternative sightseeing to make up for the disappointment. I’m not a shopper but always end up spending money here as they have such nice hand-made gifts. The staff couldn’t be more friendly or helpful.

I'm sorry to hear you didn't make it to St Kilda (it's on my bucket list) - if this was your second attempt I'm keeping my fingers crossed that third time lucky may work for you one day!
In the meantime, I'll be sure to share your wonderful feedback with the team in Portree as it means a lot to know how much their work is appreciated.

Went here today to get some information on short walks with our dog. The assistant was very knowledgeable and helped me a lot describing various walks and drives on the island. We will take on board some of his suggestions over the next couple of days before we go home.

Someone had called in sick so we were surprised to hear that the visitor centre was closing early at this rather busy time of year. The staff were friendly and helpful - plenty of brochures etc and a small gift shop.

Dear NotMolly
Thank you very much for your feedback on our Information Centre and friendly helpful staff in Portree.
I'm thinking that you visited us earlier in the year as November is a quiet time for us? Without knowing exactly when it's difficult for me to explain this particular instance. Unfortunately, on rare occasions, circumstances do occur where our only option is for management to take the decision to close early but please be assured this is always a last resort once all other avenues such as calling in staff from a day off have been exhausted.
I hope at the time you were not inconvenienced and that you found the information you were looking for, likewise that you enjoyed your visit to the beautiful Isle of Skye.
We look forward to welcoming you back again in the future and thank for taking the time to post your comments.
Kind regards
Alison
