We really enjoyed our trip to Staffa and Lunga with Turas Mara. We were given lots of information about the surrounding islands and Staffa and Lunga themselves. The crew were witty, knowledgeable and helpful. Staffa was our first stop, loved the interesting shapes of the basalt rock, fingals cave and the puffins amongst the sea thrift (so pretty). Followed by a visit to Lunga. We also enjoyed our time on Lunga, we had lovely weather so enjoyed our picnic lunch whilst watching the puffins, razorbills and a rabbit that quite enjoyed the company of the puffins. We also walked to the end of the island to see all the guillemots, kittiwakes, razorbills and shags ... and what a noise they make and not to forgot that aroma ...! When you get close to Lunga, the crew pick up a floating jetty which is taken to the shore line of Lunga. As others have said the landing does require getting over some large bolders before getting to flat ground. We had one lady on our trip who used a walking pole but the crew were really helpful and helped her to get over the rocks. On the way back to the boat, we discovered that there is a kind of path through the rocks which we hadn't seen when we got off the boat, this made for a quicker and easier route back to the jetty. So if you can find it, try to use that as it's much easier than the bolders.

The boat leaves from the dock next to the Ulva ferry. Depending on where you are staying it's not the easiest place to get to. The trip goes to Staffa first where you get just over an hour. That is enough because depending on the time of year there is little wildlife and there is only so long you can spend looking at the cave. It's popular so don't expect to be the only one there. The boat then goes onto Treshnish, Lunga island specifically. At this time of year there are so many Puffins you have be be careful that you don't tread on one. It is an incredible experience. However, that said we wish they would restrict the number of visitors on the island at any one time. It gets very busy. Not cheap but if you like birds don't miss this place.

We did the trip which gave about an hour on Staffa and a couple of hours on Lunga. The boat departs from Ulva Ferry and on the leg to Staffa the various islands were pointed out with interesting facts. Fingal’s Cave was not to be missed with it’s amazing geological features. A rope provides support as you walk along the base of the cliff. Lunga is puffin paradise. To get to the area where they are you have to first cross ‘Boulder Beach’ Not as easy as it sounds!! Next a climb up the cliff on a steep path. The time passes really quickly watching the puffins, with the bolder ones coming within a few feet. Another geography lesson on the way back with lots of humour from the captain

This was one of the highlights of our visit to Mull and I wouldn't have missed it....We were blessed with a sunny day and loved the boat trip as well of course as the visit to both Staffa and Lunga. Fingal's cave was awe inspiring and the visit to see the puffins as well as all the other seabirds was just brilliant! I learned so much, both from Ian who led the trip (loved his dry wit!) and from other visitors who told me about some of the birds I was seeing for the first time. As someone else mentioned, there are a number of rocks to climb once you disembark at Lunga so you need good footwear and to be fairly able and confident on your feet.

We did the trip that gave you 4 hours amongst the adorable puffins, they were a delight but the clamber across the large unstable rocks scared me to death ,the cliff path up wasn’t too bad but coming down was terrifying then the scary clamber across the rocks again although a charming young man offered help my husband to get me back to boat with one either side and we moved faster then although in all the fuss about me he stood on a bit of seaweed sand slipped down between two rocks and hurt his backside but not badly luckily. I need to make special mention of Emily who worked on the boat she was so kind and helpful she made me feel a bit less of an idiot. She is a credit to the company, they are lucky to have her. Because of the scary approach I wouldn’t go again but can recommend it if you are more numblea sure footed than me. I was truly terrified but don’t feel the need to do it again but thank you for the experience
