Laid back, friendly atmosphere

Trent runs a wonderful, unique place. Beautiful old building. His selection changes and he is always looking for different craft brews to try. He and his staff are knowledgeable, friendly and love chatting. They have a small but tasty food menu selection. Great place to meet up with friends and enjoy an evening inside or on the porch.

Want average beer, go elsewhere

Deep album cut equivalent beer ...and music.

Knowledgeable bar keeps select and rotate excellent and obscure craft drafts.

And to go with that, their atmosphere and music is laid back, relaxing, and just really conducive to a good time.

Comfortable Spot for a Craft Brew!
Jul 2017 • Couples
I enjoy craft beer and am thrilled that this place opened in Maryville! The house offers a warm, inviting, and comfortable space to sit and chat over a beer (or three). My husband and I visit at least monthly, grabbing a beer and sitting near a window. The tap selection is impressive--and rotates often. Because the Public House uses the app Untappd, we routinely check for what beers are available. The bartenders are invariably friendly and helpful, making us feel like a small part of their family. The place has various games available, too, and a popular Trivia Night. We have not sampled their expanding food menu yet, but may grab some munchies the next time we visit. If you enjoy good beer (with half-pours and tasters available for all drafts!), give the Public House a try.

Tweak it til you make it--or not

Meeting friends the other day. I love beer, but sometimes you need to be clearheaded, so I asked what else was on offer. Turns out there's virtually nothing available for non-drinkers. Not even cold tea. My only option was four unfamiliar sodas.

I don't drink soda much, but okay, it would be rude to ask for water, so I ordered one. He opens the cold bottle, pours it into a glass, and hands it to me. Surprised, I asked for a little ice. He says, "We don't have ice."

How can you have a kitchen and no ice? It's a pub! People drink stuff! It's the South!

Meanwhile, if he had asked, I would have opted for the chilled bottle. Isn't that the point of being in a bar? To drink something cold? Pouring soda in a glass just kills the carbonation and warms it up.

The attitude I got was that they didn't care one way or the other about wanting me to come back. I wasn't their target market.

If a pub can't do better than this for non-drinkers, though, they won't make it in this town. They definitely need to care about attracting non-hipster business.

My friend likes this place, but if there's a next time, I'll bring my own ice.

Took me long enough

I've been wanting to try this place ever since they opened. Thankfully I finally had an early night at work and got to pop in on a Saturday evening. It was close to last call and there were a couple of people in the building, the atmosphere is laid back and perfect for drinking some beers. The tap election is fantastic the barmen are knowledgeable. I had two beers, one casked. As a beer guy I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a good brew and conversation

Wonderful place to sit and relax with friends. I have been only once but I plan many more trips. I went the night of a tap takeover for duck rabbit. Great beer that night. Card games and checkers are available. The guys running the place seemed helpful and knowledgeable. It's a beautiful setting near downtown Maryville. Will be back again.

Great place for a craft brew!

Recently attended a Duck Rabbit tap takeover at Public House. They had a wonderful selection of that brewer's beers, focusing on darker offerings. Public House has a relaxed feeling, which was echoed by the wonderful people running the place. Give it a try!

Mar 2017 • Couples
Public House on High is a great new Pub in Maryville. They offer a nice selection of craft beer and a nightly food truck. It has a warm and relaxing atmoshere where you can meet friends to socialize and play a variety of card and board games. So different than the Norm... in a very good way!

Best place in Maryville for a beer!
Mar 2017 • Friends
Public House on High has a casual atmosphere with a great beer selection. One of the only local pubs I know of where there are no loud, distracting TV's, just fellowship and a unique beer selection. The Barkeeps were very knowledgeable and the beer selection was like no other pub in town. This place is not your run-of-the-mill watering hole. If you are looking for a bud light and a NASCAR race, this is not the place for you.
