Founded in 1878 by a few enthusiasts Troon Golf Club soon outgrew its purely local reputation. The Old Course today presents a stern golfing examination and in particular the inward half of Royal Troon is widely accepted as the most demanding of any Course on the Championship rota.

The Open will return to the Ayrshire coast in 2016 when the 145th Championship is played at Royal Troon.

Golfers the world over vie to play Royal Troon's famous courses and we encourage visitors to experience one of the most demanding Championship courses on the circuit. Visitors are most warmly welcomed at Royal Troon Golf Club from mid-April until mid-October each year on Mondays, Tuesday and Thursdays.

The Old Course at Royal Troon Golf Club is one of the best golf courses in the world. If you have a chance to play it, don't pass it up! It is a fun course to play that won't beat you up (other than the 11th hole which is one of the toughest in the world). The course has hosted... More

It was really fun to play the championship course so soon after the Open championship was contested there. The course was in great shape, though some areas between holes were a little rough because of the Open. The Railway hole is as advertised, so don't go right off the tee! The Postage Stamp is a very intimidating par 3. Well... More

Enjoyed our outing, the course is tough and the surroundings are beautiful. The restaurant and bar/grill served affordable food. This is not a place for those on a budget. The golf shop merchandise was ridiculously overpriced-I like a souvenir as much as anyone but don't want to feel like I am being held up for it.

We enjoyed a pre-round mean, simple and filling, then teed off on the Open course with great caddies. Very enjoyable. The staff was extremely pleasant and the facilities were first-rate.

What a fabulous course to view the Open Championship at. It is located in beautiful south Ayrshire and easily accessible by road or rail. The views are magnificent towards Arran and you can even see the lighthouse in the distance at Turnberry. Troon is a great town to visit too.

The Open at this venue was amazing. To walk the same course that past legends have played and current stars were playing was a phenomenal experience. On most holes getting a grandstand seat did not involve too much of a queue.

Our first time to a Major and how lucky were we to be there at Royal Troon on the final day of this year's Open. We parked at Purple Parking (Prestwick Airport) with no traffic issues at all which was surprising and passed through security which was manned by professionals with a great sense of humour, meaning that we began... Fantastic course setting the scene for the best Open Championship event in years (since Duel in the sun 1977). Great for spectating and elecctronic scoring keeping the spectators up to date. Free Wifi enabled watching the golf and remaining connected to friends to maximise social aspects of the Open Chanpionship

I took my partner here for a treat and it was a great day out. Only one of us is a golf fan but the experience was great. The weather was reasonable, the ability to get close to the players was good and there was a good array of shops/places to buy food.

Well done Royal Troon for putting on a brilliant well run event! First timer to The Open (hubby has been to others) and was impressed by the transport links and the general set-up. I'm not overly into Golf but thoroughly enjoyed the great atmosphere and the great golfing on offer, and dare I say, I'm converted! The facilities on site... More
