Narrow and steep road. Beautiful views of the coast and ocean from this road. the road itself is in very decent shape in the summer. However, it is tricky to find places to let cars pass. Two-way road on a single lane is a bit...More

Cycled the Bealach na Ba as part of our trip by bike round the North Coast 500. Very very steep but worth it. If its windy I would suggest taking the detour.

Very exciting drive over the top, particularly on a frosty morning. Fantastic views at the summit and no traffic to speak of which made the journey calmer than when we took the motorhome over in May earlier in the year.

Road can become a nightmare if you don't like driving. But the view in the top is impressive. If you are near, you might take this road

Absolutely staggering ride on the trike along this amazing road on the NC500. Despite the weather's best efforts it could not dampen my enthusiasm and respect for this ribbon of tarmac that rises and falls through the beautiful scenery. A sense of real achievement at...More

I have travelled these roads many times, but this year was the worst ever, probably because of the newly created 500 route, large campervans that find it so difficult turning on the steep hairpin bends causing bottle necks and tailbacks. I have also heard they...More

Let's say, I love driving, I love Scotland and I love mountains. The drive to Applecross was truly amazing. Not suitable for new drivers and big vans I would say. Plus you need to be careful during rain, wind, fog... well... always :) . More...More

Unsuitable for towed caravans, but fine for cars, this road has great views all the way. A car parking area allows you to walk up hill and get still better views.

Sheildaig is lovely and has a good pub and restaurant. Applecross is lovely too but I think its not a good base, unless you like the hairy drive on a regular basis! We stayed in a lodge in Achintraid, just outside of Kishorn... More
