Lovely walk down to the falls, bit harder on the way back up but the views are well worth it.
Free parking available at the local car park by the village store. Clearly signposted walk starting opposite and down through the woods to an upper viewing platform and then on down to the lower one. Impressive height falls but not much water flow these days but the overall view is very good. Not a lot else to see or do but Mother Nature doesn’t need much more.
Overall visit time about 30-45 mins including walk to and form and photos and appreciation.
Worth a trip if you’re in the area.

if you drive / walk/ bike on the south side of Loch Ness ( bring the best side) you will find these falls. It’s a bit of a steep walk down by large steps ( not suitable for pragma/ wheelchairs). the walk is about 5/10 mins. The falls were very pretty. On your return up its worth stoping at the nice cafe / gift shop. There was also a nice walk to the right through woods which also led you to the falls ( most people used the steps to the left).Free entrance. just before the falls is a lovely pub called Craig inn with views over Loch Ness so a great stop for a drink or lunch before u go to the falls ( if eating pre book)

A little harder to get to, in regards to the steepness of the trail. But worth it to see the cascade of water dropping straight down into the pool below. Would definitely recommend (if able) to head straight down to the Lower Falls, then make your way back up and stop at the Higher Falls.

We recently visited the falls, and were not disappointed. Whilst it's steps virtually all the way onto the falls it's not an easy walk for senior citizens it is manageable especially with stops in-between. However, once you see the falls all the pain goes away as they are amazing and certainly worth the visit.
I would certainly recommend anyone in the Foyers area to visit, you will not be disappointed.
Check before you visit as the cafe is not always open.

Well sign-posted range of paths leading to beautiful views of the falls and Loch Ness. Very enjoyable walks through woodlands.
Although lots of people were about at first and the car park was busy, once we set off, we generally had paths to ourselves and it was a peaceful location.

Lovely little hidden gem!
We booked a hotel just off the main roads (Foyers House) so wanted to see the falls. It was just beautiful and worth the thousand of stairs. We did follow the walk that you can follow after seeing the falls but it’s not for the faint hearted.
There were a few people who did struggle getting back up to the top but there is two areas to see the falls so the first stop prob be beat if you not good doing a lot of stairs.
I myself am voluptuous and on the bigger side but if you like to walk and don’t mind people over taking you crack on and do it!
We carry on all the way to the camp site and took the main road back up. It’s worth it but be willing to do a lot of stairs. Enjoy some cake afterwards at the Little cafe on the main road.

Stopped to see the waterfall. Expected to be hiking but instead climbed down lots of stairs. A bit slippy as it was wet. First viewing area gives you great views. But we decended to the next one. Even more impressive and worth the sort walk.
Coming back up was a little strenuous but handrails helped.
It was November when we went therefor it was a quick visit but there are lovely areas at the middle and top to have a picnic if you wish.

You hear the falls before you see them. The initial vantage points are narrow and uneven, so watch your step. As you make your way down the gorge there is a viewing plateau that is more conducive to viewing this natural wonder.
We continued to the valley floor and header over to the shores of loch Ness to check it for monsters. Nothing doing on that front, I’m afraid, so we climbed back up, which was strenuous.

Really awesome falls with nice walk down and a good trail to follow next to it too. Some free parking at the top but it fills up quickly but you can park on the road for free too.
Lots of steps down and the path can be slippy and steep in places so wear appropriate footwear. The toilets in the car park were closed too so plan that in to your visit.

A easy walk through the woodland to view the falls is worth the effort. Path has a few steps & in some parts the gradient can be sharp but all easily done if you take care.
Falls is worth the effort & there is a lovely tea room & shop @ the end of the walk, roadside.

Is the Falls of Foyers accessible from Inverness by public transport? And are the walks suitable for children?
Written April 27, 2023
Will have our 1yr old and 3yr old. 1yr old will be in a carrier/worn so no concern, but would a 3yr old be ok managing some/most of this or do you think we'll end up carrying both kiddos? Thanks!
Written April 26, 2019
We have just done this with our 9 and 5 year old - you will probably be ok if you just go to the 1st view point, although it is only 219 steps in total (roughly!) to the 2nd viewpoint. You might need a few breaks coming back up, but the temptation of ice cream / cake definitely helped!

How long a car drive from Inverness to (parking lot of) Loch Ness waterfalls?
Written July 26, 2017
Just over 30 minutes depending on traffic, the road gets narrow in places and you have to stop at 'passing places' but it's a lovely drive down that side of the Loch and you get a nice view of Urquhart Castle

Hi what is the parking like here and what's the charge? Also, is it a circular walk and how long does it take / how long should we allow? Thanks :)
Written March 27, 2017
Parking was pretty plentiful. We were there in September and there was ample parking. Can't recall charge which means it wasn't expensive!
Yes it's a circular walk- there and back again.
I'd allow at least an hour, depends on your walking speed and how long you spend admiring the sights on the way.
