Refund policy.
My husband was given a birthday gift from our son, he paid cash incase the garment was unsuitable.
Unfortunately it didn't fit, we returned to the shop in Dornoch and was informed although we had the receipt for cash they refused to refund.
Why? The cash can only be returned to whoever bought the product, therefore, you might ask why pay cash!
Absolutely stupid rule, this wasn't made know at time of purchase nor is it displayed anywhere in the shop.
We therefore had to drive to our son's home go back to the store, collect refund then drive him home again.
Bad policy, stupid rule, will most definitely never shop again in The Jail.
We are not holidaymakers we are local, therefore you have just lost 4 regular customers.

Thoroughly enjoyed our day trip to Dornoch, and especially the Jail. Worth the one hour and twenty minutes bus trip from Inverness. So unusual to see the little cells for prisoners that are now stocked with nice gifts.....soaps , candles , children gifts etc, also shoes and clothes displayed upstairs ,with nice friendly staff to help and advice
Loved how the shop was laid out with nice gifts , tho not cheap they are worth it.
Pity the cathedral was closed to the public , due to the Covid-19 virus.
Scenery enroute was Amazing

I visited here to purchase a Babour jacket and although they didnt have the style I was looking for the lady serving the that section was very helpful and couldnt have done more for me. She checked the catalogue and suggested where I may be able to get the style I was looking for. Outstanding customer service and I will be back.

Lovely little independent shops, very fresh, clean and bright interior and was also cozy inside. The items on offer were great with lots of special and unique items. It’s a great use of the space and was Interesting to see inside the converted cells. I would recommend popping in by if your in the area

We visit Dornoch at least twice a year and always visit and buy things from this shop , but no longer. While in the shop myself and my wife were trying on jackets which we fully expected to buy . I tried on a jacket and really liked it and decided that I was getting it . My wife was trying on another jacket which suited her perfectly and this too was going to be purchased. I gave the jacket I was going to buy to my daughter who was 12 at the time and she tried it on in front of the mirror . At this point the sales person with blond hair came rushing over shouting " that's not a toy " to my daughter. Now all she had done was look at herself in the mirror wearing the jacket and in no way was behaving in a way which would have damaged the jacket . My wife said that we were well aware that it wasn't a toy and all that our daughter was doing was trying it on only to be met with a snooty look . The upshot was the 2 jackets were put back with the assistant told why they were being put back and we would be telling our friends and family not to bother spending any money in this shop . Maybe this place can afford to lose out on sales which would have been around the £400 to £500 mark but I doubt it . If this sales assistant has the same attitude to other customers then I feel they are going to lose a lot more custom .

My visit to the jail was on a day when the shop was empty apart from one member of staff with white/grey hair, a grim faced officious lady who looked at my friend and me as if we were a bad smell.
She offered no welcome comment and was seemingly totally disinterested in our presence in the shop, offering no help or interaction with us.
What an unpleasant experience which in no way encouraged us to buy.
If the owner wants to fill his shop with enthusiastic shoppers, he should get rid of this unenthusiastic staff member... is she the manager? I sincerely hope not!

Heard the advert all over the radio about this place and decided to visit. OMG! WHAT A DREADFUL PLACE! It was just full of overpriced stuff and supersnotty sales people who were standing round doing nothing. The place was dark and full of stairs which are no use for buggies or wheelchairs.

This shop has some good gifts for people. The prices are great value. Some of the stuff are not my cup of tea like the cloths but some.of the soaps and bowls are good.
