Go off the beaten track and explore some little-known, but fascinating, places within easy reach of Inverness. In a small group of no more than eight, visit Carn Liath Broch, the 13th-century Dunrobin Castle, Loch Fleet Nature Reserve, and Dornoch and its impressive cathedral. Complete your experience with a stop at Glenmorangie Distillery for an optional dram of whisky.

Beautiful sandy beach, gently sloping to the sea and backed by dunes. You can walk for miles along the sand. Within walking distance (10 mins) of Dornoch itself. Wonderful views.

Great for a lovely walk - you can walk for miles, and watch the golfers at the same time! The view over the Dornoch Firth is terrific.

It's a bit of a walk from the village but this lovely curved bay and beach is best seen at sunset as the big orange orb sinks below the horizon.

Superb beach that is vast in size. I walked this beach during a weeks visit to Grannies caravan park and it was a great place to unwind. Be it 7am walks where I had the beach to myself and could start the day with a good hours walk to a nice stroll at sunset. I would definitely recommend this beach to anyone.

On our recent visit to Dornoch we stayed at the Parkdean Caravan Park at Embo which is an excellent site and leads straight onto the beach. On several occasions we walked on the beach as it was not warm enough to bathe. On two occasions we walked north up the beach to the entrance to Loch Fleet and returned to the Park to discover we had walked 6 miles. It is a very clean beach swept by the tide twice a day and we saw plenty of avian life, especially Eider Ducks, Seagulls and Geese. SEALS relaxing at low tide and swimming when high and on one occasion spotted Dolphins jumping at the North side of the Loch - best beach ever been on and sorry we did not have hotter weather
