Salmon spotting
Oct 2020
Came in a damp October morning to try and see the salmon leaping, easy to park in small area near road junction advise good sensible boots or shoes if walking down to wares edge as was slippy under foot,we were lucky to see about 12 salmon try to leap up the falls in the hour we stayed, much depends on time of year and water levels, you can watch from the road if you don"t like the slippy footpath, yoy are further away but can still see the fish leap if lucky.

Came down here to try and spot the famous leaping Scottish Salmon and we weren’t disappointed lol saw 4 in an hour absolutely brilliant. It’s a lovely spot to come just to for picnic and spend one time in the great outdoors.

Worth a bisit
Oct 2020 • Family
This place is definitely worth a visit, especially in autumn. Absolutely stunning. Once you park in the small car park it takes about 5 minutes to reach the waterfall. Make sure you wear shoes with good grips as it is a narrow muddy, slippy path. So glad we went here and we were so glad to see the salmon jumping up the waterfall.

Salmon vs power of water!
Sep 2019 • Friends
We went here 30.9 and got to see several different fish leap up the waterfall (some also failed). It’s amazing how the relatively small fish manage to actually get up the waterfall against that powerful water!
The place was beautiful in many other ways as well and at least we didn’t feel the detour was a bad idea.

Beautiful hidden waterfalls
Aug 2019
This is the second time we’ve visited this gorgeous woodland which lead to the Spout.... beautiful waterfalls. The first time we were lucky to see the salmon leaping, totally amazing. This time we were too early to see salmon, however it’s a beautiful spot to visit anytime. It’s a bit off the beaten track and the path is hard to find and can be slippery but it’s well worth a visit. If you don’t want to walk right up to the Spout you can just about view it from the bridge, so much better up close though.

Love visiting the spout - nature at her best
Oct 2018 • Couples
We had a drive out to Buchanty Spout on the river Almond, Perthshire. It was a beautiful day after all the rain we have had and the spout was in full flow. It has been a few years since we were last there, but it didn’t disappoint. The salmon were beautiful leaping up the spout, with some of them colourfully gleaming in the sunshine. They must have been exhausted but didn’t give up. Nature is so wonderful.
It isn’t the place for small children unless you can really keep a GOOD hold on them. It isn’t a level path all the way to the spout so care needs to be taken and it can be quite slippery and dangerous on the rocks. Well worth it when you get there. If you stand at the bridge over the river you can actually see the salmon leaping further up at the spout. Although not the best view you can at least see them, if you cannot traverse the path to the spout.

big salmon leaping

Great spot to see salmon leaping. From experience, you are guarantee to see them after rain! The route could be a little slippery though but it is worth it when you see the salmon leaped high and fly! The waterfall is beautiful too. We also saw Red Squirrel in the jungle next to it!!!

Worth the search and little walk
Sep 2018 • Couples
These grand waterfalls are not easy to find but once you do they are well worth the 150 yard walk to view and to watch the Salmoln leaping if you are lucky. The foot path is overgrown and at the waterfall end you need to scramble over rocks and roots so you will need decent grip on your shoes as it's slippery but it's well worth the effort and you will not be disappointed by the view.
So how to find it. As you come toward Buchanty from Crieff on the B8063 you will come to a sharp left hand bend in the road with a parking area in the bend, park there. The road to Buchanty goes straight on and is not needed. Walk down the slope toward the bridge on the way to Loggiealmond. 20 feet before the bridge to the left is a very small overgrown track and 10 feet down it a board that announces Buchanty Spout. Take this track and follow the sound of the fast flowing water. After about 5 minutes you will come to the falls. Enjoy, they are worth the hassle to find them. Someone has left a postcode in the reviews, ignore it because it pulls you up almost a mile before the falls and coincidently close to a bridge of no importance.

A waterfall
Aug 2018 • Couples
The only way to find this is to put Buchanan in satnav or GPS.
A small car park as you enter the few houses is where to park. A muddy path fighting your way through grasses, slippery rocks and overhanging trees takes to the water. The view is easily seen from the bridge without going down this path.
