This place is definitely worth a visit, especially in autumn. Absolutely stunning. Once you park in the small car park it takes about 5 minutes to reach the waterfall. Make sure you wear shoes with good grips as it is a narrow muddy, slippy path. So glad we went here and we were so glad to see the salmon jumping up the waterfall.

This isn't so much a tourist attraction, as just a lovely place to visit, a little off the beaten track. Essentially, it's a natural salmon-leap on the River Almond which is just off the B8063 near Crieff (grid reference NN9328). There's a small car-park nearby, and the track down to it can be slippery and wet. Once you're there, you could be miles from anywhere and when the salmon are leaping, it's a transfixing sight. A couple of photographers arrived just after us, but since there's plenty of space to see the salmon doing their thing, we weren't in the way. This is a far better way of seeing salmon, than by visiting the rather better known, murky delights of the Pitlochry dam fish ladder. Truly, a marvellous spectacle of nature, and one I'd highly recommend to anyone visiting the area - especially since it's free!

Hi, many reviews, but not many telling how to get there. Well: satnav PH1 3SQ and just drive a little further on to the small car park. From there, walk towards the bridge and take the path on the left; its overgrown, but there is a sign to "Buchanty Spout".
No salmon for me this time of year, but the falls were in full flow and it's definately worth a visit if you're into waterfalls.
I'm going to return in the autumn for the salmon leaps.

These grand waterfalls are not easy to find but once you do they are well worth the 150 yard walk to view and to watch the Salmoln leaping if you are lucky. The foot path is overgrown and at the waterfall end you need to scramble over rocks and roots so you will need decent grip on your shoes as it's slippery but it's well worth the effort and you will not be disappointed by the view.
So how to find it. As you come toward Buchanty from Crieff on the B8063 you will come to a sharp left hand bend in the road with a parking area in the bend, park there. The road to Buchanty goes straight on and is not needed. Walk down the slope toward the bridge on the way to Loggiealmond. 20 feet before the bridge to the left is a very small overgrown track and 10 feet down it a board that announces Buchanty Spout. Take this track and follow the sound of the fast flowing water. After about 5 minutes you will come to the falls. Enjoy, they are worth the hassle to find them. Someone has left a postcode in the reviews, ignore it because it pulls you up almost a mile before the falls and coincidently close to a bridge of no importance.

This was in no way as easy to find as had been made out. The reviews provide more accurate descriptions than Trip Advisor's map did (although I've since tried to update it). If you're using a Sat Nav or Google Maps the best thing to do is enter Buchanty and follow the directions. You will approach on the B8063 and just after seeing the sign for Buchanty the three roads meet and there is a small (unsignposted) car park on the inside of the junction. Park here, then head down the road towards the bridge and about 15 metres on the left (before the bridge) is a small track and you can just about make out the sign for Buchanty Spout. Follow the path and you will get to the spout. Here you will see the power of the water as it goes through the spout. We were too early in the year for the Salmon but I'm sure it would be a fascinating sight.

Came in a damp October morning to try and see the salmon leaping, easy to park in small area near road junction advise good sensible boots or shoes if walking down to wares edge as was slippy under foot,we were lucky to see about 12 salmon try to leap up the falls in the hour we stayed, much depends on time of year and water levels, you can watch from the road if you don"t like the slippy footpath, yoy are further away but can still see the fish leap if lucky.

Buchanty Spout is on the river Almond, just off the B8063. There is a small car park on rough ground. The Spout is a very short walk along the edge of the woods. The path was muddy and a bit slippery, so I recommend shoes or boots which have a good grip. There are also some rocks to negotiate before you get to the edge of the rocky Spout. The waterfall was really gushing, wild and fast flowing. We had a wonderful time watching the many Salmon leaping up the waterfall. It was a truly wonderful sight. We stayed for over an hour, I could have stayed much longer. The best time is October / November when the salmon are heading up river to their spawning ground. I know mornings and evenings are supposed to be the best times to go, but we were there mid afternoon and there were lots and lots of salmon. It was quite spectacular and exciting.

We went here 30.9 and got to see several different fish leap up the waterfall (some also failed). It’s amazing how the relatively small fish manage to actually get up the waterfall against that powerful water!
The place was beautiful in many other ways as well and at least we didn’t feel the detour was a bad idea.

This is the second time we’ve visited this gorgeous woodland which lead to the Spout.... beautiful waterfalls. The first time we were lucky to see the salmon leaping, totally amazing. This time we were too early to see salmon, however it’s a beautiful spot to visit anytime. It’s a bit off the beaten track and the path is hard to find and can be slippery but it’s well worth a visit. If you don’t want to walk right up to the Spout you can just about view it from the bridge, so much better up close though.
