Orkney Islands Day Trip from John O'Groats

205 reviews
With at least 5,000 years of history, the rugged Orkney Islands are one of Scotland’s most compelling destinations. Skip the car hire costs and soak up the sights with a guide on this convenient coach tour from John O’Groats. Ride the Churchill Barriers that link the islands; see Stromness, Kirkwall, Skara Brae, and the Italian Chapel; and look for seals and seabirds on the Scapa Flow. Tour excludes entrance fees.

Interesting visit. Bought two tea towels, price unmarked, but cost, realised afterwards was £24 for the two. Seems like a lot, rather took the edge off the visit.

Just back after excellent week in Orkney. Stayed in one of two self catering apartments in Skaill house. Absolutely stunning, clean, spacious and well maintained. Added bonus is they are also dog friendly. House was literally 200 yards away from beautiful beach. Staff on estate were lovely, big shout out to Steve with all local knowledge, can’t wait to go back

A great way to finish off a visit to Skara Brae - especially if the weather is not playing ball. Lots of interesting detail, a large collection of artifacts, and they have retained the essence of the house and the people that lived there.

This solid 17th century house occupies a magnificent position behind the neolithic settlement of Scara Brae. It is modestly furnished but we were taken with a portrait of a young boy, who had attended schools in the south of England, and tragically met his death back home on the island, trying to break in a young wild horse.

This formed part of the ticket for entering Skara Brae. The house wasn't worth the visit and we think it took something away from the more imporant aspect of the site.
