The country park is very practical; it is just off the motorway, the car parks are free and the path around the lake is well signposted. However, there are much more scenic places in Scotland with much better facilities. The toilets are portaloos and the food on offer is very basic. If you want to stretch your legs on a long journey this is a very suitable place. But, if you want food, drive on.
The food truck should be avoided at all costs. The hot dog we bought was two colours, pink and grey. The toasties were also poor quality for the high price tag.

We had a great afternoon down at the water sports. Kids did the bumper boats and we also did the speedboat- £11.75 for 2 adults n 2 kids. Was really reasonably priced and all the staff were lovely. It was a very hot day so this was a perfect activity to do. Always cooler down by the water. Great to see the place busy. There’s a lovely wee cafe but only takes cash. There’s also an ice cream van that did take card. Would do this again.

Visited a few times to walk the dog and then for a cycle ride. Tried the cafe out on the 4th visit, nice staff and very clean. The takeaway coffee at the theme park was expensive, but the sports centre cafe was good price. Overall it was a good mixture of peace and occasional bouts of activity

I am currently staying in on of the local hotels and found this walk after work one day.
It’s a 2 hour walk from my hotel but apologies I’ve never timed just the lake itself.
It’s a nice walk but is often very busy so I wouldn’t recommend on a weekend due to covid distance regulations.
There is an ice cream van and a food van open both on opposite sides of the lake so you can get refreshments.
I personally think this park needs a designated cycle lane as you are constantly having to love for cyclists and for runners so you can’t just put your headphones in an enjoy a walk.
I gave it 4 stars as I have been on days when it’s not busy and it’s beautiful and good for clearing the mind.

we are in the scottish governments beyond level zero, yet the sports centre and therefore the cafe is shut. No wonder companies are losing money. pop up the road and pubs and cafes are open, pop to the garden centre and its open, yet strathclyde park sports centre is closed.

I hadn't visited Strathclyde Park for many years but thought I would do a check as I have overseas visitors coming soon and it would have been nice to show them this "showpiece". But I was so disappointed at what I saw. I was disgusted with the amount of litter, broken glass and other debris lying around. The bins that I saw were overflowing. There were the usual dog poo bags hanging from bushes. The worst areas are on the theme park side of the loch. I would be loathe to take visitors here and would never recommend it as a day out in it's present condition. Shame on North Lanarkshire Council for not looking after this park. During the Commonwealth Games it was pristine.

Went for an explore as we had never been before. Found a route up the Calder water which is covered in native woodland. Walk would have been nice however this is by far the worst park for litter we've ever been to. Its everywhere and clearly been there for sometime. I am astonished they hosted the commonwealth games, its an absolute embarrassment to the city and Scotland.

Chose this park for a charity virtual Kiltwalk as it's relatively flat.
The weather was glorious, dry and sunny.
I began at around 8.30am and it seemed beautiful on the surface.....
I began near the A723 entrance and it was when I was nearing the South Calder Water that I spotted the swan nesting in an inlet full of debris and lots of rubbish strewn around when I realised that this amount of rubbish hadn't just appeared overnight.
I realise that due to Covid/financial restrictions that services, park services in this particular instance are probably stretched but don't park rangers exist any more???
I also noticed that work was taking place on that morning in the park of placing new soil at the edges of obviously newly laid paths, couldn't this work have taken place before the restrictions were easing off and therefore before the park would have been known to have been less busy???
Needs more park rangers and better timings of necessary work to be carried out.

Popped in for a saunter as the weather was reasonable. Car park was busy and it was good to see loads of people out enjoying themselves. We got a fair way away from the car and the heavens opened and we beat a retreat back to our car although it didn't dampen our enjoyment

Stopped here for a break during our journey as it's located right by the motorway, what a mistake! Half of the park seemed to be closed off, there were no amenities open and the rest of the park was a muddy mess. We looked for a picnic area and found 3 picnic tables which had all been vandalised and were such a mess that they couldn't be used.
What a dreadful place there is really nothing at all to recommend it.....sorry!

To walk around the park and lake no. There is a nice cafe on the waters edge inside the rowing club.
I am heading up for work and have my own paddle board, can I just use it on the Loch. It looks really open so was just going to pump up the board and head out, he website doesnt really specify...
