Really great place for kids and adults, would recommend visiting, the kids loved holding the snake. 😀 The butterflies were great fun, spent ages trying to get a photo of the big blue ones. Will definitely be back.

Reptiles kept in cramped conditions with hardly any room to move. One snake was on slabs with a bowl of water! That was it! Spiders had tiny boxes too. Also value for money was terrible. £27 for a family ticket and we had seen the whole place in an hour! Shocking! Wouldn't advise anyone to go here!!

This attraction is well worth a visit. The knowledgable Kev is worth talking to for any information about the insects, plants and butterflies. Beautiful creatures flutter around and land close enough for great photos.

Visited with our 3yr old daughter and we all had a great time. It's a good idea that they give you a stamp on your hand to last all day as this allows you to pop over to Dobbies for lunch or whatever. The butterfly area is very well done and the ant colony are funny to watch, constantly beavering... More

Took my young son here today for first time. We enjoyed it but I just feel it could be better. The staff are absolutely excellent. Lovely friendly and well informed. The butterflies are beautiful and we really enjoyed seeing them. The area they are in is lovely. The Honey Bee section is run down looking. Feel it needed a clean,... More

We caught a cab out to Dobbie’s Garden World in Lasswade to see the Edinburgh Butterfly and Insect World. A really fun afternoon. They have a butterfly house – very hot and humid, my glasses fogged up as soon as I set foot inside. One wall has all the chrysalises attached to bamboo sticks, and walking into the next section,... I took my kids here regularly in the early 2000s when they were little as they were butterfly obsessed. Having visited more recently, I find little has changed. The butterflies are lovely and the staff are well informed but the place is scruffy. In particular, the outdoor bee area could be so much better. I appreciate that it must be... More

We decided to take our 4 year old girl to the butterfly world for her birthday as she is butterfly mad. When we got there we were slightly shocked by the price of a family of four just under 30. When we entered the butterfly part your hit with a strong smell of damp but you soon get over that... More

Loved this place from the moment we arrived, you walk through the doors and enter tropical conditions, butterflies everywhere a feast for the eyes, the ant collonies were fascinating as well, the one let down was the reptile bit looked a bit in need of a bit renovation but that apart amazing day out, you can go in and out...
