I visited this attraction with my brother, his wife and two daughters (7 and 5) on their holiday home from New Zealand. The girls had a brilliant time, longing for any butterflies to land on them. You can spend the whole day, they stamp your hand so you're able to pop in an out, maybe head over to Dobbies for... More

Lovely place but improperly staffed. Admittedly we visited in August and during the English schools summer holidays, but not one staff member was to be seen in the actual butterfly area keeping an eye on things or looking out for the butterflies. A group of teenagers were there during our visit, one of whom thought it acceptable to rustle the... More

I used to visit as a child and went with my friend and her son. There was rust on railings where children could easily injure themselves, the enclosures for the reptiles looked so dated, the information panels were tatty and the customer service when we entered was poor. I was really disappointed and sad to see that this has gone... More

Visited with 17 year old daughter and husband, wasn't expecting great things as it seemed it was in a garden centre!! How wrong , beautiful jungle like butterfly house , lovely butterfly's, turtles, tortoises , koi carp . Separate insect house with tarantulas , snakes , scorpions, pigmy hedgehogs, living bee hive. Very informative keepers including Kev, a veritable font... More

This is a great day out especially if it's a rainy day because it gives you the real tropical rainforest feel with the humidity (whilst you stay dry). I took my children and now I'm taking grandchildren. It hasn't changed in 20 years and could do with moving on with the times - a little bit expansion perhaps. Perhaps a... More

'Butterfly and Insect World' is well worth a visit - I hadn't been since I was a child, now visiting as a 26 year old; I was still utterly enthralled by all the wonderful beasties! The main tropical area you first enter is wondrous - you walk among exotic fluttering butterflies, tiny cute quails scurry about in the undergrowth, you... More

Reading the other reviews, I would have to agree that the entire attraction is in need of some investment in terms of revamping. That said, my son (8) and I were in place today for the 3.00 encounter run by Kev. Here is a jewel in the staff. He clearly loves his animals and loves presenting to children (and adult-sized... The butterflies and moths were beautiful, as were the reptiles and the bees but I felt that there could have been much more information on the exhibits available. The place could be so much better if it presented some facts on conservation in relation to bees, for example, or some more in depth data on the habits and habitats of... More

I am a great fan of butterflies, and this is a nice little half-day having a look around. There are loads of butterflies fluttering round in the hot house which are fab to watch. Loads of varieties. Also some emerging from pupae etc. There are additionally some exotic animals eg geckos, snakes, scorpions etc in the back as well. It's... More
