A weekday visit on a rainy day.
Not very busy and plenty of time to really look around the display rooms and ask the knowledgeable staff some good questions. The staff were helpful, friendly, and happy/able to take the time to talk about the palace and answer our questions.
It’s an interesting mix of a Victorian re-imagination of a medieval palace, some areas used by the Marquis, and a couple rooms that have been more authentically restored to a medieval state.
We kept to the interior areas and gave the wet gardens a miss on our visit so it only took about an hour. The shop was well stocked with reasonably priced items for souvenirs and gifts.
Overall, a great visit and worth a return in the better weather.

Falkland Palace is must see if you're visiting Scotland. The palace has some of the best furniture, artwork, and guides of anyplace in Scotland. The guides made the palace come to life with their stories. Some of the furniture dated from the 1500s and was in immaculate condition. They also had several floor to ceiling portraits of Charles I, Charles II, and several other key figures in history that were truly stunning. My only complaint was they don't allow pictures in the castle so I couldn't take the experience home with me. A must see if you're visiting Scotland.

This is a great place to learn more about castle/palace life. The doucents and tour guides are exceptional. There displays of the king and queens quarters, tapestries, and explanations were great. I highly recommend it.

Family
I actually think Falkland Palace deserves 5 stars but our day out as a family plus dogs, and all NT Scotland members, was marred by the ridiculous rule of no dogs in the grounds. We visit NT properties al the time and this was a first. We had quite a long journey from our holiday house in Crail and were looking forward to a picnic in the orchard but were told of the disappointing rule. My son-in-law had to take our dogs back to the car, it was too hot to leave them inside it, and wait for my grandson to take over the job of dog minding.
We were told the rule applies as the palace is a family home, a fact disputed by people in the village, and had a walled garden. All the NT properties, up until FP, I have visited have walled gardens and many are family homes but still welcome dogs.
So disappointing.

A national Trust property with volunteers who are passionate about the place : informative yet discreet: amazing painted ceilings and the oldest tennis court in the world made this a pleasant afternoon out.
Plus scenes from Outlander was filmed here ...

Lovely place to visit, especially the garden when the trees are in bloom, and look out for the willow lady.

This attraction is a little off the beaten track but easy to find. It’s set in an attractive village with good shops and restaurants. Parking is plentiful.
You can learn so much about Scottish history from the guides and the artifacts on display..There is the bonus of a beautiful garden. Mention must be made of the staff. From reception ,through the rooms to the shop at the exit we met with efficiency, knowledge, friendliness and humour . I had brought two relatives from Poland 🇵🇱 to visit who were most impressed. You made me proud.

A surprise find on our visit, this is a Scottish National Trust property but well worth a visit, lots to see inside and in the gardens.

Fantastic location in the centre of a beautiful village. Great historic Palace, wonderful staff in each room who were all friendly and supremely professional and full of information. Gardens are also amazing, gardening staff all helpful to identify plants, and a peaceful tranquil garden. Nesting swallows nests in the Royal tennis court.
