Hugely enjoyable golf, splendid clubhouse and warm welcome await at Crail Golfing Society. Founded in 1786 and the seventh oldest golf club in the world, it celebrated its 225th anniversary in 2011. The club has two courses: Balcomie Links, a unique, traditional links laid out by Old Tom Morris, and Craighead Links, a challenging links experience designed by 2009 Golf Course Architect of the Year Gil Hanse.

My husband and I played Crail, Balcomie Course on July 18th. We found the course in beautiful shape and enjoyed it immensely. To have the opportunity to play with two friendly members was perhaps the highlight of our Scotland golf trip. They were jovial and welcoming. The views are spectacular. The pro shop has a great selection and the clubhouse... More

we loved Crail Golfing Society - my husband and I played Balcomie.....great round of golf and a beautiful course with amazing views. Course is in excellent condition, not expensive - take a caddie - it's worth the few dollars and makes your round.

Second time ive now played the craighead course. We got a good deal paying 35 each for a round.which is a bargain compared to other courses in the area with inflate green fees. What did we get? Tough but enjoyable round played on a pristine condition course with stunning views. Each hole requires a bit of thinking...the greens are in... More

What a stunning golf course , with beautiful views the course was in excellent condition ,with some interesting par 3s it's pretty tight with adjoining fairways and shared greens so you need concentrate ! Very welcoming pro shop , we had a very nice meal after we played , in the modern clubhouse which overlooks the last four holes .... More

My friends and I played the Balcomie links on Tuesday 12/7/2016. The course was in excellent condition but the greens were extremely slow for a seaside links. The rough is penal so stay out of it. Even the fringe grass near the greens was not links-like, it was very "sticky", almost like the South African Kikuyu and very difficult to... More

I played in a corporate event in June on the Balcomie course and it was super. A few tricky par 3's kept us in our toes and the views made it in scenic for the entire round. We were treated to a two course meal in the Society club house afterwards which was excellent and with good service. If you... More

Crail golf club has two courses; we played Balcomie on a dry, sunny day in June. Club house facilities modern and excellent, catering very good and reasonably priced; golf course, links, was the very best we played. Splendid views, splendid day.

I have to declare that I am a proud Member of Crail Golfing Society, founded in 1786 and the 7th oldest Golf Club in the world. The historic Balcomie Course , designed by Old Tom Morris , represents the 'old' in terms of tradition and the challenge it represents; while Craighead Links , the first course ever designed by Gil... I played twice last on my holidays from Cumbria and joined David, a member at Balcomie and his friends. I was as they say 'blown away' by this historic course, the fairways, greens were a delight to play on. A testing challenge with OB on the right on some of the outward holes, sea and rocks! The views were wonderful... More
