Not disabled friendly.
Nov 2021 • Family
Went to the fireworks display here this year and it was not disabled friendly.
Instead of allowing disabled visitors to use the allocated disabled parking on Linkfield Road/Millhill, instead I had to use a carpark down Balcarres Road which was a fair distance away. I assume this was due to them wanting the shows and entertainment to be in a more prominent location to the inconvenience of their disabled visitors.
The racecourse did allow me to borrow an electric wheelchair but only after I rang and complained at the inaccessible event.
I implore Musselburgh Racecourse to think again and issue an apology to its disabled patrons. I know I am not the only one with this complaint as I have heard of others who could not attend due to this.

Lovely Racecourse
Aug 2021
My first visit since 1998. We had a horse running so made the trip to Musselburgh. It's a lovely course and was just as nice this time around although this time we were in the owners enclosure.
They have moved the owners car park because of covid and it's quite a walk from the course but they do have a shuttle that takes you from the car park to the entrance.
Free tea, coffee and fantastic shortbread throughout the day.
Owners get a two course meal that was excellent.
Viewing for owners was also good
The only negative was out horses didn't win but we can't blame Musselburgh for that

First Visit for over 35 years.
Jul 2021
Thoroughly enjoyed two days racing here, my first visit since the early 80s. Friendly, helpful staff both when planning my visit and when on course. The complimentary shuttle bus from the car park to the turnstiles was a nice touch too. Covid precautions seemed to be working well and we felt very safe. Let's have a proper Festival Meeting here?

Losing its appeal on NY day
Jan 2020
We've been coming the the races for years on New Year's day but each year it gets busier & busier & some drink & food outlets just can't cope anymore. Huge queues, stalls running out of food & poor quality range of wines on offer makes it a less than appealing day out.

The age group is also getting younger every year & all you seem to see are scantily dressed females on the pull with heavy make up & large lips. They don't seem to be there for the racing....

I would advise attending on a regular meeting day when it's much cheaper than the £25 charged on the 1st January & you have room to move.

Brilliant. 9/10
Dec 2019
Ive visited nearly every racecourse in the UK. I love the sport. Had my first visit to Musselburgh on Monday. One of the friendliest and well thought out racecourses I've visited. It's a 15 minutes taxi from Edinburgh. Our Uber cost £16. Im sure the train and bus are cheaper but why bother with the hassle. Whilst its a fairly compact and small racecourse. The whole place is modern, tidy and fresh. The staff are so friendly and helpful. We booked a table in the bistro restaurant downstairs. The menu, service, atmosphere, food and price was ALL excellent. Ok it wasn't an especially busy race meeting but my experience was wonderful. Even had a few winners! The high street is literally a 2 minute walk away, every thing you need is there before/after racing. Only slight negative is the bar area / any indoor area could do with a slight expansion.

Poor staff food
Nov 2019 • Business
Poor effort at food in the stable canteen, Mac n Cheese is not a difficult thing to do correctly, stable staff deserve better offerings than this

Friendly with Compact Facilities
Oct 2019
This is a compact but scenic Race-course right by the sea. Parking is good and the facilities are compact and varied. You can eat and drink all around the course and have a bet with either the Tote or Bookmakers. There is a mobile Fish and Chip /Burger van for fast food and the quality is good. Not all facilities were open on the day we attended (finale of the Flat Season) i.e. some programme Kiosks were closed and time was wasted before we realised you had to go to one which was open. All staff were friendly and helpful and the course commentary kept you abreast of events such as non runners and race progress. Towards the end of the day some drinking areas were "rowdy" but no trouble and the Pinkie Bar is large and spacious. Our tickets were bought on-line and in advance because it is cheaper this way. For sure will go again, this is a good day out.

Delightful evening
Aug 2019
The weather was dull, the horses I backed were donkeys, But the location, staff and facilities were excellent. Quite a long trip from our home, but well worth the trip. We have now visited over 30 courses and this one sits up there with the best. Well done.

A great evening out

Extremely surprised and delighted at how enjoyable an evening at the races was, even though I didn’t win, great atmosphere.
