Went to Mass here during an annual visit to Carnlough.
The Church is beautiful and the seating brings all of the congregation close to the celebrant.
The theatre seating style gives an intimacy to the celebration.
The sunlight through the magnificent windows on this sunny evening brought a spectacular tranquility to the setting.

Beautiful contemporary church. Our family visited with a member of this parish and the priest explained the architecture of the church. The doors open to the Irish Sea.

This is an extremely modern Roman Catholic Church and is so peaceful and a real oasis where you can quietly reflect and pray. The altar is surprisingly simple but beautiful. The stained glass is lovely and all in all I am glad we stopped off here.

Temple of light

This is a wonderful place. The entrance is very unusual, with the bell tower rising over it. The metallic door is really strange looking. There's a unity to the interior, which is a broad octagon. There's a shallow slope up to the skylight at the apex of the roof and a shallow dip down to the centre of the floor. No-one feels far away. Great walls of vivid stained glass fill the space with colour. The curved pews bring people together. Side chapels incorporate some windows saved from an older church, and some beautiful modern paintings. Very well worth seeing.

Very different

We visited St John the Evangelist Church in Carnlough. Tracey Architects built it in 1996 - 1997. It is very modern in style, a big octagon with rows of banked seats inside circling around the altar. Even if you talk softly the walls echo your voice for everyone to hear. They have huge new colourful stained glass windows facing you. In a side chapel for the Sacred Heart three old windows from the previous church have been included. I really liked this church, it was very different to other Catholic churches I have visited. We parked on the road right outside.

Amazing (modern) stainedglass

Roman Catholic Church that is right on the beach. It is Modern, with a simple altar and wooden pews that are in the round. Parking is in the back. Quiet place to sit. 😃 ______________________________

Quite Pretty but somewhat strange

It is a pretty church with a good carpark etc. However, I cannot get over the incline towards the centre of the chapel. During mass you are standing on a really quite steep incline, this personally makes me quite dizzy and nauseated. I try to avoid services here when I can.

Inspired evangelism in a structure.

Taking the Antrim coast road north of Belfast you will pass through the small village of Carnlough. One outstanding feature is the Catholic church on the main road. This modern church is very beautiful inside. On entering notice the font ripples and quite background music starts, thanks to a cleaver PIR. There is a car park, althought the main road is not very busy. Well worth a visit.
