Easy walking and great views along the way...
Sep 2021
Historic Fort Henry, also part of the 2nd World War defences can easily be reached from the Middle Beach car park.
Area well kept up, and walk further to South beach for views of Harry Rocks.

Save Fort Henry
Sep 2021
We visited this site and stood where Churchill, Montgomery, Eisenhower and George Vi watched the preparations for the DDay landing.
Are the National Trust really going to let this wonderful historic site fall into the sea as the coastline erodes.
How can the site be saved?

Fascinating to see the fort and the view out over the bay, the same view allied leaders had when observing the troops practicing for D day

Stand where King George, Churchill, Eisenhower and Monty watched the training for D-Day , in Studdland Bay. Owned by the National Trust with lots of history boards informing you of the events and history of the Fort. Named after the Canadian base back in Canada. You are reliving history

Fascinating Fort Henry
Sep 2020 • Couples
Well worth a visit. You can actually walk in the footprints of the movers and shakers of WW2. Quite poignant. Obviously great views across Studlands where the DDay practice landings took place.

A little piece of history
Aug 2020
What an amazing piece of history. Where kings and Prime Ministers once stood to watch the D-Day landings, we stood and watched the cruise ships moored during the Covid pandemic. Really atmospheric. Perfectly positioned on the coastal path and just off Middle Beach.

Lots of history, a must for the historian.

Lots of history around Fort Henry, including pillboxes and dragons teeth. There is also a small cafe off Middle Beach, toilets and taps to wash sandy feet.

KING GEORGE
Jul 2020 • Couples
Not far from middle beach car park but very important. This is where on the 18th April 1944 the King, Churchill, Eisenhower, Mountbatten & Montgomery stood to watch the largest live ammunition practice to take place.
