Muddy fun
May 2019 • Friends
Great fun. Second visit with mate. Dont have to be a child to enjoy. Wore old compression gear for the trail. Takes about an hour to do the course. Arrived a little early for session. Allowed to start early by the friendly reception staff member. The new showers were warm. I do agree with others extra showers needed, whether covered or classed as Male or female. A bigger changing room would be better for the number of people activitying. Definitely worth a revisit for 2020.

Awesome day out!
Nov 2019 • Family
What a great adventure with my 2 boys 13 and 10. We were lucky it was a mild day so the time of year didn't ruin it for us. We were all smiling from ear to ear from start to finish. The warm shower at the end was very welcome as was the snack from the shack. At £10 per adult and £8 per child it's a reasonable cost for a couple of hours fun. My 10 year old is adamant he is having his birthday there next year and I'm tempted to convince work to hold a team building event there. All in all a fab end to our half term.

Fun in the mud
Oct 2019
Absolutely brilliant fun. I took a couple of grandchildren and we all loved it. Totally covered in mud, so if muds not your thing better to give it a miss. Spectators can follow you round and can see most of it, so good photo opportunities. The entry fee is fair £8 child £10 adult, and you can stay for a couple of hours, which would mean you go round a couple of times. We laughed and fell about so much that we didn’t notice the rain and wind that happened on the day we went.
The only downside is the shower area. The water was hot and lovely but there are not many showers and it takes a while to wash off the mud. The changing areas are also a bit limited. There was a lot of water on the floor making changing a bit difficult. You need loads of black bags for your belongings which you can purchase from reception, or bring your own. Also the car park is a little way from the mud bits so you need to be organised. Gave 4 stars because of the shower area. They have staff around the area who we found very helpful and attentive.
However overall I wouldn’t hesitate to go back it was one of the best things I’ve been to. We all loved it,

Really Great family fun, team building or Hen/Stag night, birthday experience !
Aug 2019
We arrived and signed our visa waiver then we were told to head to the course. We worked out where the start was with help from other muddy adventurers and we didn't stop for another 2 hours. It was a great day out. We took teens, primary school aged and adults everyone got stuck in..the mud! just when we thought the course had ended there was always more to do ! the big mud slide and the rope swing was a favourite. But there is something for everyone. If you want to miss an obstacle you can do this..and if you want to watch or bring a well trained family pet to watch you can. There were safety wardens and helpful staff whenever we needed them. You couldn't help but make friends with other mud warriors. Be warned at the end it gets very cold, you can rinse off in the stream. There is a hot outdoor shower like a beach shower but there is no privacy at the outdoor shower - so if you going to strip off all mud clothes maybe and old swimming costume underneath might help. Inside the changing rooms no basic divided stalls (one of our party took one star off for this) its just a clean, covered, open main area but it still did the job. This course is not for the faint hearted..its for the family adventurer and the crazy party crew. If you really think you might need a private clean shower and 5 star changing rooms..afterwards..this is not for you. But if you value fantastic life time memories that and you want to do something that's a little different or challenge yourself and have a great laugh!! I would highly recommend. (last tip - bring good fit tshirt or layers ladies mud tends to drag down outfits, drawstring joggers or prepare to display a very muddy bottom and bring a bin bag for clothes after - old trainers are better then wellies or wet suit shoes unless you mostly want to do the course face down as wellies get stuck and wet suit shoes get v slippery - do not expect to use anything you wear ever again.!)

Myself, My husband and two children age 12 and 14 and my brother in law took part in the mud trail on Saturday just gone. What fun! We had such a laugh (usually at my expense) and raced each other through the assault course. We got filthy dirty and loved Every second of it. Definitely recommend for families of all ages for some good simple fun.

Lots of fun and adventure to be had on many different types of apparatus, rope swings, tunnels, slides, nets, balance beams etc surrounded by mud. Lots of smiley faces having a great time. The staff were great in explaining everything and making it a memorable experience. Highly recommended 😁

With more outfits to trash I made my way back to the mud trail to be astonished by the improvements since my initial visit last year, how can you improve a muddy experience ? Well they have. Amazing.

A significantly better layout of obstacles & challenges awaits and the mud is deeper and even more frequent but do wear clothes that can stretch a little as I had to return to change on reaching the high boards that I found so hard to climb over then rip - oops ! Well I made it on the second attempt with no further embarrassing issues. My trainers were too slippery this time, my fault.

After an excellent burger for lunch & a couple of superb hot chocolates I paid to go around again a couple of times including my first photo summary of the course as I usually take before & after shots as opposed to live action photos. There was time to show users how extreme the mud can be for those who think they're just going to get a little dirty !

Unbeatable for exercise, stretching and pulling and swinging and crawling, I could recommend knee pads though, there's even more crawling required now, I wonder how people would cope with just shorts, must be tough, I prefer the recommended long sleeves and trousers. No hard and fast rules though, do what you can, pass over what you can't, just go crazy and have lots of fun. The new slide areas are awesome and the course is exceptionally well thought out & re-planned to make it really challenging and it's now 2 Km a circuit so you can do the route twice or even more if you're super fit.

Basic showers have improved, water is now warmer, changing rooms very basic but fit for purpose, do not bring anything fancy though, everything old please. The staff are just fantastic, the safety patrols are keen and helpful, asking me if I was OK as I huffed and puffed my way round & if you pass them your camera they even take great photos, but do avoid taking anything not water / mud proof on site unless you have a walk alongside non participating photographer. The lockers are free and can easily hold your cameras, a change of clothes and a water bottle.

A day very well spent and I'm well in practice now to challenge the family when we all visit together. Highly recommended & added to the adjacent Water Park it's a full on family day out & they do birthdays & group events too - wow.

All Expense Spared
Apr 2019 • Family
The location is great and initially you think this will be amazing and that the kids will love it. Before the kids started they were told that they had 2 hours to complete the course which was 2km. In reality they were finished in about 20mins and the 2 hours just consisted of them being able to go round as many times as they wanted.

Once they had exhausted themselves, we headed for the ‘showers’. The showers are a myth. There are 2 hoses with cold water and 2 outside hot water showers. They are not split by gender and there is no privacy at all for more modest people. It was ridiculous to see a group of women in their early 20’s trying to get clean whilst surrounded by a group of 11 year old boys. The changing rooms are disgusting. My daughter and her friend were horrified to find there were no cubicles so I had to hold towels in front of them whilst they tried to clean up and get changed.

I realise that the whole mud thing is meant to be grotty and that’s part of the fun, but seriously spend a few quid and create a safe environment for kids and adults to have a shower and to get changed without the situation of a group of young women inadvertently showing their breasts to a group of 11 year old boys, and everyone else for that matter.

To top it all off, as it takes most of the allotted 2 hours to stand outside trying to unsuccessfully get clean with a hose, the kids were freezing cold and all had blue lips. So we then went to get some hot chocolate from the on-site kiosk. £2.50 for a very small drink.

The whole set up is to make as much money as possible with the least amount of investment.

Dear Smudger125 Thank you very much for taking the time and trouble to provide us with a review, despite the fact that on this particular occasion it would appear that our delivery clearly failed to meet your individual expectations, which we regret. The reality is that we are a young business with genuine, passionate people seeking only to provide a positive, highly rated outdoor activity based customer experience, sometimes we do not get everything right first time - it is the nature of life. Having acknowledged this, we are very proud of the literally thousands of 5 star reviews that the Mud Trail has enjoyed since its inception in 2018 via Trip Advisor. The Mud Trail is 2km long, has over 50 obstacles and everybody that takes part is entitled to at least 2 hours on the trail - visiting whatever obstacles they enjoy in whatever order to suit themselves. In reality the 2 hour time limit is never rigidly enforced and we certainly do not encourage customers to treat the Mud Trail as a racetrack unless customers wish to complete at top speed and do unlimited runs. The Trail is staffed by qualified first aiders and trained Life Guards everyday to assist and ensure customers safety. We are told by our customers that the Mud Trail is both excellent in its concept, delivery and value for money. Which is why it was so disappointing to receive your review as it puts many thousands of satisfied customers in direct opposition to your view. As a company we have spent considerable amounts of both time and money (£8,000 plus) over the winter months of 2018/19 in providing the first stage of warm water showers, ( Water tanks, piping, groundworks, heavy plant equipment, Boilers, pumps and plumbers ) to bring warm water onto the site responding to our previous customer feedback. You can understand the stringent planning requirements and excessive limitations placed upon us within a site of special scientific interest. We are simply unable to provide the facilities that you seek. We consider it a blessing to have any external warm water showers of any type at all! The external showers we provide perform a similar function to those that line Bournemouth Sea Front - to be used by all and visible by all - at all times. The nature of our location and the outdoor activities and facilities we provide are also on a seasonal basis: such that we would hope and would expect to be viewed in a similar manner. A purpose built, gender segregated shower block and changing rooms, with private shower stalls, changing stalls and central heating is more akin to myth and realms of fantasy that you have alluded to and most certainly does not happen or get put in place for the price of a few quid. I can assure you that despite the many hundreds of customers that use the Mud Trail changing rooms every single day; the changing rooms are rigorously cleaned, swept and inspected at specific timed intervals everyday. We have to be sensitive to customers using those changing rooms at the time of course - you can imagine the dirt, filth, dust, muddy old clothes, shoes and copious amounts of Mud left behind by customers and despite their heavy daily use we have never had any customer describe them as disgusting - which to be frank is inaccurate. It is naturally very difficult to respond via web based platforms after an event when the behaviour of certain clients is perceived as offensive or insensitive by another client when using what is advertised as and clearly is a communal wash off area used by all. We expect all our clients to show respect and integrity to others whilst on site. Had you been able to bring any inappropriate behaviour or unhappiness in the service we provide to our attention whilst on site we would of course have dealt with the matter sensitively at that time to provide a satisfactory resolution.
