Free (donation only) visitor centres are usually not worth reviewing. However, Charmouth have done a great job of engaging children with hands on exhibits, fossil digging in sand and helpful staff. Really well done!

The guided fossil walks are for all ages and we walk for 5-10 minutes down the beach before we start our search. We take our time so there is no rush to keep up with everyone else. The time of day for fossil hunting... More

Belemnites and Ammonites mostly, if you go to the Heritage centre first the volunteers will show you what they are and which rocks and areas to find them.. Be careful near the cliffs as they can fall at any time,
