In the past I've avoided the Market House mainly because of the previous surly and unwelcoming landlord. The new team are a delightful improvement; warm and welcoming and providing excellent customer service. The carvery is excellent. Now that I've found it to be so much improved, I know I'll be back again.

Went along today after seeing lots of publicity for this weekly market on facebook and in local papers. Market started last year but closed down for a few months over the winter and this was the first of the new season so I expected it to be buzzing with stalls and customers. Well, how wrong was I! About 6 stalls - that's all. No atmosphere whatsoever. The stalls were laid out in a very haphazard and disjointed fashion which seemed odd - why were they not all together? Even with that few, it would've looked more coherent if they had been in a line, or in a semi circle or something. I know the weather forecast wasn't great but come on, you've had months off, surely a better show today was called for or are there usually only 6 of you? I for one won't be going again. I went round the corner to Waitrose and did my shopping. I will stick to the farmers' markets from now on - they turn out year round, whatever the weather and offer a great choice of local foods. Hugely disappointed.
