We went with expectations. The whole place shows a distinct lack of TLC. The best items were the painted wooden signs. The Italian Gardens are not Italian. The kitchen garden is nice but poorly stocked. Overall impression is that the grounds are not well maintained....More

You need to be inquisitive, there are lots of paths to follow and gateways to try. A very relaxed and comfortable place. Make the effort to walk to the Monument and you'll be rewarded with the view. Similarly walk down through the woods to the...More

The gardens are well maintained and we liked the sustainability concept, too. Nicely laid out, great vistas and a good collection of plants and trees. For us the absolute highlight was the food in the Dairy Tea Rooms. Explosions of taste and salad that's so...More

We love Tapeley. Unassuming and naturalistic gardens, beautiful but not obsessively tended and a natural woodland walk to the lake. Tranquility - a wonderful place for a relaxing stroll and some peace. A striking contrast with the nearby generously funded, ordered (arguably ostentatious) Rosemoor. On...More

There is a spacious car park but it is probably best to check with them whether it's OK for a caravan.

Yes, the gardens are dog friendly and I was able to go into the tearoom with my dog to order my drinks and food, and I sat in the other room which is dog friendly.
